1D Mark III 1.2.3

1. Includes the following new features that were frequently requested by customers to the new firmware.

a) Direct selection of AF points by the Multi-controller is added to C.Fn III-9.
b) Alternate access to Exposure compensation is added to C.Fn IV-3.
c) With the cameras External Speedlite control menu, Flash function settings can be used to set the Wireless setting and Zoom.

2. Improves the stability of AF accuracy in AI servo AF when shooting extremely low-contrast subjects

April 30th, 2008 could bring about new firmware for the 1 series bodies. It's said they will further correct issues with the AF system.

Canon G Series Rumors.

I've been told Canon will announce TWO new G series Powershots at Photokina.

One will be like the current model with a faster lens and some added megapixels. The 2nd one will have a new larger CMOS sensor and the best ISO performance of any zoom point & shoot. The jury is still out if it will match the DP1 or not. Both cameras will also go wider than 35mm. They will keep the same 6X zoom.

5D Rumors

New Nikon?
Nikon to release a cheaper FX camera? D10 is the rumor. It'll come in at the $3000 price point.

Pretty inevitable.

Will Canon counter with a cheaper FF? Say something around the D300?

What Canon needs to do for FF.

They need to release a much better performing wide angle lens. The EF-S 10-22 on a 40D is better than the 16-35/17-40 on the 5D. The 14 2.8 II is a disappointment. I'm willing to bet there will be a 17-40 update.
