Rebel XS release timeframe
After speaking with a source, I found out that Canon wants to have the camera shipping in August. Expect it to be announced in June.
Annoucement could be held off for Photokina, with shipments beginning right away. I still have trouble believing the June stuff.

A CMOS G
There will be a camera with a CMOS sensor sometime before Christmas I have been told. We'll see a CMOS sensor inside a new G camera. The G10 won't be it, look for a GSi or something of that ilk. The G10 will basically be a G9n.
This is a loose rumor, the person I spoke to has a correct rate of about 20%.
1D Mark IIIn in 2008? Nope
There's a few rumors about a new 1D Mark III, don't believe them! Canon won't be touching the model until 2009 at the earliest. After speaking with some people at Canon, none of them really have a desire to explain why the camera needed an “n” version, which makes sense. Admitting some kind of defeat would only worsen the PR related to the camera.
Am I a bit biased since I just got one and don't want to see it replaced? YES! Seriously though, the camera kicks butt. It even AF's in AI Servo!
A best selling camera list based on Amazon's sales. The stats use some kind of weighted average. It's not the whole picture, but at least you can see a trend. Canon continues to dominate compact camera sales, and rebates have made the 40D one hot commodity. It's the best selling dSLR at the moment.

The stock levels of this lens in Canada & US are extremely low. From what I've seen in the past, it appears the 400 5.6L is about to be discontinued.
Will they make an IS version of the lens? I haven't heard anything from the regular sources. If anyone has an ideas, let me know.
Lots of 3D/5D2/7D Speculation
The speculation that Canon will launch 2 new full frame bodies for Photokina is getting bigger by the day. How else can one explain the rebates on the 40D body to get it below $1000 USD (An insane bargain)?
I'm still on the fence with this. We know a new FF body is coming in the fall, two though? They could have motivation to get 40D buyers to upgrade to something more than 50D, a $1999 FF camera will sell insanely well to xxD upgraders. Current 5D owners would be upgrading to the 5D II without much arm twisting, say in the $2999 range.
Canon may get slammed an awful lot for what they do and don't do with their camera releases. The shareholders are generally happy. Canon does know how to make money hand over fist…. just ask my better half.
Canon Rumours

B&H Photo has an instant rebate of $200 on the 40D, bringing the price down to $939.
Interesting part about it is it's a US only rebate, it even says so on the rebate form. However, after calling B&H to inquire, they will still honor the US rebate and ship it to Canada. The exact quote was “we can write this up somehow for you”. How they can do that is beyond me. Is this something Canon USA allows? I thought that was the purpose of different rebates in different countries. Can someone from the EU get the US rebate too?
Seems a bit like B&H is bending the rules, I could be wrong though.
The Canon S6 IS should be announced sometime in June and ready to ship sometime in the summer.

This camera will NOT be a CMOS sensored camera. Look for Canon to put their CMOS P&S sensors in the G line first. That will upset a few.
Canon will announce this camera at the same time as the SX200. The G9 probably won't be announced until Photokina if Canon does 2 rounds of announcements. Rumors suggest Canon will do a P&S announcement and an SLR announcement on separate dates.
Other Products:
Look for Canon to announce a 430EX II as well as a 250EX. The 250EX will be for compact cameras… ideally the S6 IS and G10. It'll also work with previous cameras with flash shoes. It's about time.
A good article about what to expect from the next version of CS. The GPU acceleration and finally a 64bit version looks very promising.
I use 64bit Vista (yeah yeah..) and 8gb of RAM and an 8800GTX.. it'd be really nice to utilize that stuff a lot more. I'd like to see Lightroom do the same thing.
Word is it'll come on 3 50gb Blu-Ray discs and require a terabyte of disc space to install. 100gb of the install will be Adobe “goodies”.
24-70 Update
I've been told that a local photography store has been told to rid themselves of the 24-70 and be very selective in ordering more. When they're told stuff like this it usually means there's something to replace it coming along.
A new 24-70 2.8L IS would be the perfect zoom lens for wedding photographers and a walkaround on the 5D MkII. It does make Nikon look silly for not putting VR in theirs. Canon will introduce this lens at the same price or less than Nikon's overpriced version.
I've used the Nikkor 24-70 on a D3 and compared it side by side with the 1D Mark III (mine focuses) and Canon's 24-70… there is no reason in the world it should cost more.
Canon 18-200
Canon will not be introducing a 18-200 to the marketplace, against the desires of many amateur photographers.
The reason for not making one is simple… to make one right, the lens would cost $2000 and up. Nikon's version isn't a very good lens and Sigma's is downright awful. Just take a peak at the price of the 28-300 f/3.5-5.6L from Canon.. $2400 or so.
Nikon's 18-200 is barely better optically that the new D60 kit lens. Canon wouldn't be able to make an $800 lens perform any better than the 18-55 IS/55-250 IS combination.
