1D Mark X Update

July 7th, 2008 | No Comments | Posted in Canon 1D Mark 4

Just a thought
The rumor earlier today about a new sensor for the 1D body got me thinking. Perhaps this low noise sensor is the one that will bring HD video to an SLR. I remember reading about the concept a year or so ago.

It's coming, just when?

Canon testing 3 new cameras?
I just received an email about Canon testing 3 new cameras. Two of them will be full frame.

The email talks about new low voltage CMOS sensors in the cameras. The sensors producing the lowest noise currently of any dSLR.

The 3rd sensor is for the 1D line, a 10mp sensor with extremely low noise at 3200-6400 ISO. There was no info as to whether this was APS-H or fullframe.

As I write this, I've found a thread about it on DPR. You can view it here:

Canon S6IS
I've just been told that we should expect a few Powershot announcements very shortly. Canon is rearranging their announcement schedule currently.

S6IS is all I can get confirmed.

There is still no word on new SLR & lens announcements. :(

Another review

Conclusion
“After reviewing all three of these DSLRs (XSi, D60, A350), I don’t think you could go wrong with any of them (See Nikon D60 Review & Sony A350 Review). As noted above, I think the Rebel XSi has the best overall image quality of the three; however, each of them produces great images overall….. READ MORE

3D & 6D Update [CR2]

July 5th, 2008 | No Comments | Posted in Canon 5D Mark II

This week?
I haven't been able to find any more information than you already know about when we can expect an announcement. Canon has so many new products to announce, it will be a crazy next 12 weeks.

No Flashes
I've been told neither the 3D or 6D will have built in flashes. I don't think anyone would care either way.

Could be wrong.

New CMOS Factory
Canon's new CMOS factory was to be operational this month. Anyone know if it's up and running yet? None of the usual suspects seem to know.

Canon announcements next week? [CR2]

That soon?
A reader sent in this link from AVF:

http://www.avforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=786982

Apparently this person feels Canon will make announcements next week. That seems a bit soon to me, although I wouldn't be shocked to see Canon make an announcement just as the D700 is set to ship.

I'll ask around about this, it may need to be re-rated.

Thanks for the Tip “A”!

3D & 6D Update [CR3]

New news about the old news
I received some info about the new CMOS in the EOS-3 D. My source is claiming that Canon's new CMOS will once again bring Canon to the forefront in high ISO performance. I was told again sensor will be in the 18mp – 21mp range (I still think 16mp).

Megapickels?
People that easily dismiss megapixels as a feature worth having have never used a 1ds Mark III. If the megapixels are high quality, they are absolutely worth having, and you'll be glad you have them. When Canon ups the resolution by a large margin over the D700 & D3, and noise performance is better, most everyone will agree.

The last words in the email were “the new Canon's will make every Canon user very happy.”

I know you are all STOKED about the Rebel XS!
