From B&H we’re told it’s going to be December.
… Ritz Camaera says the end of October.
Earlier than expected
A reader has told me that someone at Adorama said they expect their first shipment at the end of October. He was inquiring about his early preorder.
He questioned the lady at Adorama as to who the ship date came from and she stated it came right from Canon.
I can’t get the same confirmation from anyone else. My sources in Canada are saying the end of November. However, someone in Australia also said the end of October.

I got the following answer at B&H:
“Canon currently anticipates it to be available sometime in December, but they have not specified a date to us as of yet”

funny on B&H they don’t even have the 50D yet. but I went to Samy’s here in LA and did told me to that they are expecting and the end of OCT beg Nov. but who knows

I was told by my local Ritz Camera that it would be end of Oct also…

I have the 5D MKII back ordered at Adorama.
They sent me a nonsensical e-mail last week saying that they were embarassed to have missed their promised delivery date(Didn’t promise me anything, and the manufacturer had let them down.
This makes me wonder if they have it all together.
The 50D is in stock at our local camera store, Huppins, http://www.onecall.com but only with the 28-135 lens kit.

I received the same email as Ed from Adorama and I replied and asked the ETA and they responded: “We are headding for the end of october,we will keep you posted.”

According to an e-mail I received from buydig.com, I should have it in 3 weeks.

I was told by representative from Profeel Video today that it is expected at the end of October.

That e-mail from Adorama you got, is a stock response generated by their computer system. If something is on order (back-ordered or otherwise awaiting shipment)for 2 weeks or so without being “shipped” by the system, then they send you that e-mail to let you know they haven’t forgotten you or your order.

Ugh. I pre-ordered mine on Amazon.com. I hope they are expecting it as early as Adorama.

I am still hoping that a year from now Canon does the unthinkable (for them), but highly appreciated for many users: release a 50D with 5D’s old sensor, at around $2,000. THAT will make me be as impatient as some of the people around here seem to be, not the Mark ii.

Here in the Netherlands this shop (http://www.camerahuis.nl/) says it will be available in November. They said it came straight from Canon.

I think Canon is dropping the ball in not offering a low MP full frame camera, something around 12 or 15 MP. The Nikon D700 stands pretty much by itself in this area and is a big reason I am considering the swith to Nikon. I think most non pros have no use for 20+ MP and I’m frankly tired of Canon’s approach of increasing pixels drastically with every new camera IE 40D to 50D, I can clearly see the negatives to this many pixels on a small sensor in every sample photo I have seen from the new 50D…..I’ll pass!

I’ve pre-ordered a 5D markII with my dealer here in Ireland. He has talked to Canon and has told me that the official release date in UK/Ireland is the 8th October.

I was told by my local dealer that the shipment is scheduled for nov 10 and thats from a canon rep.
