Uhm, it’s called the Canon 5D and it’s been available for over 3 years.

50D for $1000 by February? Its already a great $1200 camera, unfortunately priced at $1400. Canon missed on this one, just not by as much as they did on the 40D last year. It should have had a 12Mp gapless sensor, new AF system, improved AF and a working auto iso. The latter probably could been done in software. Its too bad because Canon has a great collection of lenses.

I think Canon is dropping the ball in not offering a low MP full frame camera, something around 12 or 15 MP. The Nikon D700 stands pretty much by itself in this area and is a big reason I am considering the swith to Nikon. I think most non pros have no use for 20+ MP and IÃ¢â‚¬â„¢m frankly tired of CanonÃ¢â‚¬â„¢s approach of increasing pixels drastically with every new camera IE 40D to 50D, I can clearly see the negatives to this many pixels on a small sensor in every sample photo I have seen from the new 50DÃ¢â‚¬Â¦..IÃ¢â‚¬â„¢ll pass!

Who cares? By then I’ll be with Nikon (very unhappy Canon user). Canon has about the worst customer service relations of any company that I’ve dealt with over the past 20 years. I don’t reward companies like that with buying more of their products.

Ok there obviously going to be a Feb announcement or around there w/ PMA.
Now there will likely never be a Mark IV – hear me out:
There was no G4, S4 IS, and some others. 4 is a very unlucky number in many SE asian countries and I’d expect canon to just go with the Mark V.

That’s my thoughts.

+1 on the 400 5.6L, I’m sure it’s not doubt a great lens but some improved coatings, distance reporting, and potential IS and non-IS versions, that would be great.

I’m just a little surprised that no new lens rumors have surfaced. Given the advances in the 5DMKII I would think that Canon would be looking to upgrade several of their older model “L Series” lenses like the 400mm f/5.6L.
