Hey I just wanted to let you know, I really like the composition on your web site. But I am using Chromium on a machine running version 9.10 of Crashbang Ubuntu and the UI aren't quite proper. Not a big deal, I can still essentially read the articles and look for for info, but just wanted to inform you about that. The navigation bar is kind of hard to use with the config I'm running. Keep up the great work!

I'm still fine and dandy with my trusty 20D (new to me since early 2008) for my stock photography work. 8mp is more than enough, and I have no complaints about it at all.

Rox, I completely agree with you on the battery issue. It's a pain in the butt to deal with two different sets of batteries & chargers when out and about. A 40D/50D follow-on with a 5DII battery would make a nice companion to a 5DII.

Looking forward to your 50D review CR. If it speeds it up, I could even do with a separate 18-200 review.

I think it is reasonable to believe that once the 40D sells out Canon will plug the gap between the $575 XSi and the $1400 50D.

In Jan/Feb the 50D will probably drop to $1250 and the XSi will be available from many vendors for $550. So, a $899 model will probably come out. My guess is that Canon will not want to undercut the 50D's build/features, so we could see a beefed-up XSi type camera with video, priced to cut the legs out from under the D90.

All speculation, mind you.

What you are describing is the pixel pitch. The pixels in a 5d2 are the biggest... well bigger than a 450d/50d anyway.

I understand people are bitching about resolving power and what not but get over it... The 50d is a great camera. I'd rather have the data then not have it. Data storage is crazy cheap if you know what you are doing. Enterprise grade is under $1/gb and DIY storage grade is about $.15-.20 per GB for 10+ TB!

I am working as an editorial, advertising and art photographer and i do not need a 15mp camera for my everyday work . 12 mp is more than enough ( i got since 1 and 1/2 year about 120000 new files in my Aperture programm - I`m thinking now in TB, not anymore in MB), but what really counts is the quality of the output - of every single MP - and i even do not like the IQ of the 40D - i prefer the 450D right now. Canon should really work on a natural look of the digital output. Sometimes i go for film about this ( with my good old mamjya- and at these days, I think about, to buy a zeiss Ikon -analog!- camera) . And, BTW , i would pay for a 40D MK II as described, more than for a 50D.
Yes, I would definitly go for a 40D MK II with a natural look of the files right now- tell me, where to buy ;-)

I would like to have a xxD with the 5D MKII battery system... I like to have both a FF and a 1.6x crop with me (versality), but it would be more flexible to carry only one battery techology... Because of that, I'm in for the 40D MKII :-)

Yup, nothing Canon would do. Putting it in there just below D90 pricing would generate interest, but no sales.
