Anyone have any inklings about rebates on the 24-105 f/4 L? Is that lens ever on the rebate list? Is the rebate on an L significant like $100 or so?

While I hope for price drops I would also be disappointed ’cause I just bought my first dSLR – a Canon 50d. I did score it with a $100 off plus 8% off and a free printer after rebate. not bad for two days after they started shipping. I was planning on waiting for the price to drop but I gotta help the economy – right.

I will patiently wait for the new rebates to come for a speedlite. 430 EX II or 580 EXII?

In the last few days the UK price of the 50D has fallen from the initial Ã‚Â£1200 to between around Ã‚Â£1000/1100 depending on retailer. I’d say this is because it was too expensive vs the Euro price and way to much vs the D300 which is below Ã‚Â£1000.

Hopefully it will come down further if sales are soft and perhaps we’ll hit a cashback period soon so I can upgrade to it.

I see that RGB tech UK are selling the 5DMK2 for Ã‚Â£1,800 body only inc VAT, which is Ã‚Â£500 cheaper than most other retailers touting it at a crazy Ã‚Â£2,300 with a free 8GB card and shite bag…yea right…that’s a GREAT deal…a free bag and a whole 8GB card…wow, that’s got to be worth it!!

Well given that the 70-200Ls almost always make the rebate list it would be a good bet that they will make this fall’s rebate list as well. You would be smart to at least wait a few weeks to see what makes the list. Beyond that, I think CanonRumors raises the point that global demand is slower for expensive camera gear right now. Couple that with a rising dollar, and if you are buying canon gear in the U.S. it would make sense to wait a month or 6 weeks before making a purchase.

People buy stuff because it’s all credit, without realizing they don’t have the money to pay for it.

Judging by how many people pre-ordered 5dmkII there won’t be overstock of those and price drops or rebates.

I didn’t pre-order mine just because I don’t like paying for something I won’t see for 2 months. (am in Canada)
