I like the press release:
Yuichi Ishizuka, senior vice president and general manager, Consumer Imaging Group, Canon U.S.A. stated “The name we have given our greatest step in our digital revolution here at canon, LUKE comes from the great book the Bible. This came to us in an administration group meeting while we contemplated the Cameracorders name. We felt LUKE was the perfect fit being that it comes directly after the book of Mark within the Bible.”
