The 45mm and 90mm TS-E lenses are not "L" lenses because they don't contain ground aspheric, fluorite, or ultra-low dispersion lens elements. Keep in mind the TS-E lenses are essentially lenses with an image circle that is large enough to cover 6x6 roll film.

Most standard and short telephoto prime lenses with modest apertures don't need any exotic lens elements to provide good performance.

A new TS-E 24 with better resolution and maybe less distorsion (=suitable for architecture) with 2/3 steps faster (for better live view focusing) would be THE killer lens for me.

I am actually waiting for exactly this lens because the current TS-E 24 f/3.5 is good but not perfect. Stopping down to f/8.0 of f/11.0 is o.k. for the final image but the lens must be tack sharp and please without distorsion even when I use full shift in panorama mode (= 14 mm lens when stitched together)

This is the lens I'd like to have!!!

Please make it available at PMA!!!!!!

It'd rival the new optimized Nikkor PC-E 24 and thus make the Canon switch more exciting as it already is - I've been recently switching from Nikon to Canon and the only lens I miss is a better 24 mm shift lens - unfortunately the E-type lenses can not be adapted to Canon (opposite to the rest of the Nikkors)

Please make it happen Canon!

I think that Canon should upgrade all the 3 Tilt/Shift lenses.

Professional photographers that shoot architecture need a good lens for that. The old 24 is not good enough.
And aperture 2.8 or 3.5 would be enough. If Nikons new is better...why not upgrade ?

They should also upgrade the the old 28 mm 1.8 and the old 28 mm 2.8. They should have a L lens that is 28 mm.

If i shoot landscape i would go for a 28 instead of a zoom-lens. Or is there a zoomlens that is better than a ordinary 28 mm ? I would rather go for detail and sharpness than the versatility of a zoomlens.

Canon need a good wideanglelens for highresolution cameras as the new 5 d Mark II and the 1 Ds.

Getting a bit tired of all this production of zoomlenses all the time. But hey...if they can make a good one, just as the wideanglezoom that Nikons has...OK !!

Why not F:/1.8 or 1:4. Then we would see some big time interest. I have the TSE-90, but won't go for the 1.4 right now due to the small max aperture.

if canon don't make this lens within the launch of a D800, i will swap to nikon stuff...

The current 24 TSE really need an upgrade... the 90 TSE while not being a L lens is a very good lens...

From my point of view, they should also make a 35 TSE... 45 is too long or too short...

Erik... i meant that it would be nice to see an improved 24 TS-E since the current one is the worst of the TS-E lineup (and quite a bit worst than the new nikons from what i understand). I know that at least the TS-E 90mm is good (looking to get one as soon as I can recover from recent purchasesl 50D,400/5.6, 17-55 =D ) but are there any plans to upgrade the other TS lenses? Just curious so dont start flaming me telling me the other ones are fine (nikon's were fine too and that didn't stop them from updating them and improving a lot).... just figure with the 50D and a new 1Ds on the horizon Canon is going to have to step up a bit more in the glass department to keep up with their own sensors

With the current lens the tilt and shift are fixed at 90 degrees to each other. Hopefully the new version would allow this to be changed similar to some of the after market adaptors. Then a Canon full frame digital would give similar capabilites to a field camera.

Why make a 30mm? There's already a EF 28mm 1.8 USM and a EF 28mm 2.8 (albeit no 'L' series) -- for all intents and purposes they act like a standard 50mm on the 1.6 crop bodies. Is there really a need for another lens between the 24mm and 35mm sets?
