From an anonymous source
This could be nothing more than some random person’s pipe dream. It was an interesting concept anyway.
Panasonic
- Acquisition of Leica Camera AG. LeicaRumors also posted about this.
*edit* Leica Geosystems AG and Leica Microsystems AG are separate entities.
- Acquisition of Olympus Corporation.
The acquisition of Olympus makes a lot more sense to me than Leica. However, after what Panasonic paid for Sanyo, anything is possible.
Samsung
- Currently investigating the possibility of acquiring Hoya Corporation, owners of Pentax.
Samsung keeps threatening to really care about digital photography. I fully expected them to be very aggressive after teaming up with Pentax. It never really happened. They continue to make uninspiring P&S cameras and a dslr that no one has bought (some say makes better images than the K20D). However, Samsung Techwin is the 3rd largest manufacturer of digital cameras. They have the size to take on Sony for 3rd in the market.
If this were true, it would have been easier to buy Pentax before Hoya, unless Hoya has something coveted by Samsung as well.
None of this may be remotely true, but it was an interesting read anyway and something to think about. There are too many manufacturers of DSLR’s currently, I think something has to give.

Predictions
I want to hear what you folks think is coming for PMA?
Rumors have been few and far between, will that mean PMA won’t bring us too many goodies? I’ll keep trying to find out.
My Predictions based on the best rumors I have will be up shortly.

Another person claiming it exists
I received another email from someone claiming Canon will in fact launch a waterproof/shockproof camera for PMA.
Specs
10.1mp
2.5″ LCD
3.5x Zoom (35-122)
Waterproof to 8 meters
Drop resistant to 6 feet
CR’s take
This camera concept seems like a no brainer for Canon. Olympus has proven there is a market, time to steal some back. Still take this with a grain of salt, I’ve received nothing solid from regularly good sources.

Replacements of the 9000 and 9500 possible
I got word that apparently Amazon had a link pointing to a new 9xxx series printer. It was removed within a few hours.
There may be printer announcements on the 17th or another date in February.
thanks for the tip JO.

It may not wait
I received new information from a couple of sources regarding a new Rebel for PMA. Both sources claim that a new dslr is definitely coming, and the Rebel will be it.
1D3n/1D4
There will be no new pro camera body for PMA they both say as well.
Neither had any information in regards to new lenses.
Waterproof Camera [CR2]
Is Canon going to wise up and release a waterproof/shockproof camera for PMA? One of the sources thinks so.
Panasonic recently launched one and I’m willing to bet Olympus is going to lose a ton of sales because of it (SD Cards instead of xD).
There’s nothing defininitive at this time.
