Now Stuck in London
Got out of Dublin after 6 hours of delay, which of course caused us to miss the connection flight to Toronto. So now I’m stuck here. There’s lots of snow coming down at the moment as well.
The charm of all this is wearing quite thin.
Best part, Air Canada has my luggage with our clothes and toothpaste. Awesome! I think we’re almost out of diapers too.
Ah well, it’s great to be alive and own Canon stuff. :)
Having a great time
Sorry there has been no updates, I’m on day 2 of being trapped in Dublin airport. Some terrible weather cancelled all the flights yesterday and there are tons of delays today.
I hope to be back in Canada tonight.

I’m going to go ahead and CR5 the announcement date from Canon. It’ll be February 17-18, 2009.
What’s Coming [CR2]
From a different source, I’m told to expect announcements to be for compact cameras and not lenses or dSLR’s.
The source says to expect a camera on par with the Panasonic TZ7. If true, expect it to be a CMOS based camera with HD video.
I wouldn’t be shocked if no dSLR is announced. I kind of expect the 500D to be announced either later in the spring or in the fall.
As for lenses, there will be lenses announced, availability may be far into the future however.

Recently Russian service centers of Canon have started receiving complains from the people having the troubles with their Canon… vacuum cleaners.
It seems that one large electronics supplier in Russia has bought somewhere what they truely believed to be Canon Vacuum Cleaners, and even advertised them. So many bought intrigued by the brand name and overall feeling to get something cool from Canon.
Now it seems it was a nice planned action to sell thousands of some third party, probably Chinese vacuum cleaners labeled as “Canonâ€Â, having the manual and boxes looking like actual Canon stuff.

You think the A480 is it? It’s not, Canon will make announcements on February 10, 2009. There will be powershots, lenses announced.
I don’t think anyone thought the A480 was it. Announcements are coming, maybe next Tuesday.

A 10% climb in pricing
Increase in pricing had already happened in a lot of countries, we now see it’s official in the UK. You can expect to pay about 10% more for your Canon goodies.
The 5D Mark II and 50D are both part of the price increases as well as various “L” lenses.
