The EAN code 8714574537771 is listed in Germany for the 5Dmk2 with the normal 24-70 L.

So probably writing error of Canon Netherlands.

And they wrote that this kit would be 5dmkII + 24-70f2,8 non-IS. As stated above in the CR note. So the source of the previous information was wrong and now admits it. Sorry guys!

Not so sure.

Revised White paper, page 3:

"Based on this success, it’s only natural that advanced users are looking for manual aperture control in movie mode, and Canon is listening to constructive comments and feature suggestions. "

CANON is not deaf, and LOT of people (including me) requested by any way the manual control in Movie mode, that will allow the EOS 5D Mark II to be used Professionally

I hope the new version is at f/2.8 as sharp as 24-105 at f/4 . Otherwise the update is useless to me. I don't need a lens soft at open aperture. Canon, please give distortion diagrams as well to the public. MTF alone to public is a note that there is some bad information compared to Leica or Zeiss lenses.

Well....
Thanks, but I know all the things replied.
Using a manual focus (even another brand lens) is not a good option considering you loose lot of things and it's "useful" for filming, but not too much for stills. And I don't think Canon would like their customers to buy Nikon lenses to use in their 5D Mark II either.

I hope Canon allow full manual control in movie mode in 1D series, but it's kind of uncertain too due to the so known broadcasting rights/contracts conflicts for sports, etc....

Anyway I guess customers deserves the right to use the 5D Mark II full manually controlled in Movie mode.
If Nikon releases a DSLR with manual control (Nikon has nothing to loose doing so), Canon probably release a firmware update to avoid keeping behind.

I hope Nikon do it, and do it well.

The more competition, the more chances to get what Canon should have already given.

I hope there would be a 3D too, but that is more uncertain, and would be ridiculous to have manual control in the Full HD Movie Mode (the 1st DSLR manufacturer to include such feature) ONLY in the 1D series.
Would be like moving 1 step ahead and 2 steps back.

I don't think Canon would like to keep behind Nikon after being the 1st to put full HD movie in the DSLR world.

Canon has so far NOT announced new releases during a trade show. So, ZERO hopes for a 24-70 f/2.8 IS announcement at PMA. This is as certain as the addition of new useful features in a firmware update. Will NEVER happen for Canon.

They are totally predictable. Hopefully, this spells the demise of their domination and the start of a new Nikon era.

According to http://www.cyfrowe.pl/aparaty/canon-eos-5d-mark-ii-i-ob-24-70is.html, the 5D2 + 24-70 IS is a mistake, an official statement from canon.pl is to be issued this week.

You could just buy some manual lenses which are plentyfull and cheap on ebay. Won't give you full control or AF but they will give you apature control.
If you do some research you will find that some of the older manual lenses way outperform canon lenses especially the wide angle lenses. The Olympus zuiko 24mm 2.8 would be a good example of this. And again they don't cost and arm and a leg.

I just don't get it. There is obviously a demand for replacing several of Canon's lenses with newer designs (24-70,100-400, 50 1.4) or introducing new definitely popular ones (EF-S in the 30mm vicinity). And it is not just because people like to bitch about things, but it is usually for a good reason! Each of the lenses mentioned have their weaknesses (sample variation, sharpness wide open, missing or old IS etc.). I wonder how much more revenue Canon could make if they started designing new versions of more mainstream lenses. But instead, all they present at PMA are two extremely pricey, niche T&S lenses! Come on, you guys can do better than that. I wonder how many people are holding on buying lenses as they expect something new, or are not willing to pay the price Canon asks for the performance that they get.

Me for example, I would like a fast normal-equivalent prime for APS-C, but I am not too eager for the usual Sigma lottery. What does Canon have to offer? Two decade(s)-old designs with bad performance, and a 1400€ L-glass. You are kidding!

It is the same within every industry: Its not (only) the financial disaster the world is putting up with, thats just a lame excuse! If your products suck, whether we are speaking about gas guzzling cars or slow AF, bad corner performance SLR lenses, if your products suck, people won't buy. Even if they still have the money.
