For those of us not in Canada, what’s the current price? Ie, how much is the increase? So that we might extrapolate what a similar increase might be in the states (I’m assuming that’s what this presages..)

This is probably Canon only. The increases are currency correction.

Good thing I picked mine up in December. I was thinking of holding off buying but I was afraid of price increases because of currency fluctuations. So this is the second price increase from the first announcement of the body.

Well, considering the current exchange, the 5D is still cheaper in Canada.
It’s currently 3,099.00 CAD (= 2,494.38 USD)
So this increase will bring it to 2,655.11 USD

Canadian dealers have been selling them below the USA prices on ebay. They make a profit on the devalued currency, about 81 cents US buys a Canadian Dollar right now. Canon USA wants to even up the prices (In US Dollars)

Are there any more UK price rises to come? If so I should better start my business buying lenses and selling them later on. Why didn’t I do that already?!!!!! :Duh:

I got mine for $3950CDN (including 8GB Sandisk Ultra III ) for body plus 24-105kit. This is from Camera Canada. The price at TheCameraStore. com (Calgary, AB) is very similar (but no extra card)

5DMKII body is about AUD3799 (=USD2637)at this moment.
Dunt know whether canon will put the price up at 1st May.

Really? Is this a rumor site? I can see the price increases on lenses not the body. almost 10%? That’s a lot. If Canon does so, it will lose the market to Nikon…….
I think Canon wants to increases the sales on the Q1 so the “NEWS” is out. I want one too but still hold off till the price down or rebate.
Guys don’t be fooled by the rumors……. well, if the money is not an issue now, why not……

Viewed from Europe, it looks like Canon tries to get as much turnover as possible, while not renewing quickly enough its products line (particularly on the lenses), maybe to keep the investment rates low enough…
Some people are disappointed because they have been waiting for a long time a renewal from Canon which is not coming (ex: we still wait for the new 400mm/5.6L, a 3D body, or some new lenses in the pro or consumer area 24/2 or /2.8, the new pro tele 500 & 600/4 IS, …).
Well, it looks like Canon is not as proactive as it was, but the competition (Nikon and Sony soon) could wake up Canon…

Already the Canon EOS 5D mk II is out of sight for the average consumer. I remember in December when the price of the camera was $2700 CAN – now its going up again from $3099 CAN to $3299 CAN. Sorry, the economic situation in world wide doesn’t warrant the huge mark up on this camera. Sorry, you just cannot justify this major jump in price. It doesn’t make sense.
Lower the price so that people will buy more – not less!

Well, you were right! The Camera store suddenly has it listed at $3,284 from their previous price of $3,000. Even more glad I bought one last month!
