Yes, it is indeed good! Just to let everyone know, there’s a list of quite a few forums etc. on the 5d wiki – http://wiki.planet5d.com/index.php?title=Other_resources

Beware of this forum, the owner/moderator is a Mac fanatic. There is a “Software for PC” section where he answered a question telling the person looking to select software to buy a Mac. I have nothing against Mac’s, he should have not setup a PC forum just to tell users to buy a Mac. This is flakey!!
It certainly was not helpful to the person asking the question, there is plenty of good software for PC’s, just because he is uninformed, he makes comments like that in the wrong section of his own blog.
After seeing that and tons of poor advice given by people recommending software and products that they did not use or own, I stayed away.

Its the attitude. Someone asked for help on finding PC software and the owner of the web site trashed him. What a nice place to visit.

The forum has many different people on it with lots of viewpoints and discussion about workflow with the 5D2.
A few people on one sub-forum have offered advice that, for some specific types of encoding, FCP for Mac provides a quick and simple solution.
To post here that the response was not helpful to the person asking the question, you must
1) Have an understanding of what is involved in what the original poster was attempting to do;
2) Weigh the costs of the software/hardware involved. Not all video problems can be solved with software alone. Some specific tasks require expensive cards or systems.
3) Be able to read the mind of the original poster to know whether s/he found the advice helpful.
The advice may have been unhelpful to you, but that’s no reason to bad-mouth a constructive forum on a rare topic that many people find valuable.

The forum was not constructive, others were trying to help the person find editing software for his 5D2.
The moderator jumped in and made a reply that did not even relate to the question, and when others called him on it, he said, oh well, he should be using a Mac anyway.
This is not helpful to a person seeking help, the moderator didn’t even know he was in the PC forum, he later admitted, and then basically said you shouldn’t own a pc anyway.

This forum is great. I’ve pretty much read through the whole thing. My 5DMII is in the mail and I’ll be ready to shoot some video as soon as it arrives.

Ya I love the site… Gives work arounds for ’somewhat’ manuel controls over aperture and audio control over the auto gain control.

No confusion with the popular 3D application Cinema4D…

As any forum you will find help, but also discussions. Many levels of knowledge and type of comments. You can not judge a site only by few posts.
I find Cinema5D to be a very nice one indeed.
Indeed, it has been one place to notify and spread a
PETITION TO CANON Inc. suggesting and requesting FULL MANUAL CONTROL for Movie mode and Other features also related to Still shooting, that can be implemented via FIRMWARE UPDATES.
Even if a Firmware update is really coming, the petition can help for future updates.
The ONLINE PETITION to CANON is here:
http://www.petitiononline.com/5dmark2/petition.html
If you find ONE or More features suggested/requested to be necessary or benefit your shooting experience, please sign it.
It won’t take you more than just a minute to sign it, and have nothing to loose.
In 1 day it has been 200 people signing all over the world.
THE MORE PEOPLE SIGNATURES, THE MORE CHANCES WE HAVE to get one or more improvements.
Thanks a lot in advance.

I can’t browse Cinema 5D. Why?
Well, my only post critiquing the improper grammar and abundance of misused apostrophes littering the site was deleted. No action was taken to rectify the issue.
For a site tailoring to professional gear, I feel insulted participating when faced with unprofessional, prominent language constructs. I shouldn’t have to see “Full Rig’s” and cringe every time I visit the site.

I don’t see “full rig’s” often there.
And if it makes you feel better, there are some other “professional” forums where posts are deleted , account disabled without notice nor previous advice, and only due to admin’s disliking the kind of post (even when it wasn’t offensive nor harmful at all)
So, the lesson for me is to try to be friendly everywhere, post constructive topics whenever possible, don’t criticize (as almost everyone do), avoid ironic comments, and be happy.
There are always, everywhere, good and helpfull people, Although they might not be the most common to find…

Random, If i were you I would take this directly to the UN, this kind of outrage cannot be allowed to carry on – you should be fully compensated for your psychological injuries and the website should be shelled by tanks from a safe distance.

Maybe you aren’t understanding – this isn’t some video game website full of prepubescent kids who have no regard for respect for one another regarding language use, but rather a site that caters to professionals and amateurs working with expensive hardware. If professionalism can’t be tolerated, then there is an issue. If an administrator or a moderator wants to delete something as simple as a request to fix one misused comma, there is an issue. (And no, it isn’t only the comma. The site is littered with spelling and grammatical mistakes.)
Quite frankly, I feel as if I wasted my time registering. On that board I can’t hold a professional conversation and expect it to both not be deleted and taken seriously.
While you joke, I guess you don’t see the issue. Would you like it if, in your professional workplace, your secretary constantly misspelled words in letters sent to your customers? What if he/she completely ignored, and actually removed any existance of, a request to simply use spellcheck?
While a very minor issue, the actions taken to defend the status quo show the problem with these administrator power-happy communities. Do I care in the long run? No, my life isn’t going to be wasted on Cinema5D any longer, and this will be my last post about the subject.

I have to say, I can not agree with you in 100%, but it’s just my IMHO, which indeed could be wrong.
p.s. You have an awesome template . Where have you got it from?
