“G”MOS Revisited

March 23rd, 2009 Posted in Canon PowerShot

Held this off from last week
An anonymous tip pointed to the development of a CMOS based “G” camera. The camera would be available in the fall

Specs
MP: 12.2 CMOS
Size: 1/1.6″
Lens: 5x (28 – 140)
Proc: DIGIC V (Already?)
LCD: 3″ VGA
Movie: 1080p

That was the basic specs told to me. Seems reseaonable.

There was no information as to whether or not there would be a CCD version of the camera released along with the GMOS.

If Digit V processor is really ready for Canon cameras, then it would be VERY much interesting to see its new features… we could then extrapolate som of them to future EOS DSLRs, coudln’t we ?

“an anonymous tip” would be [CR1] – so why even publish it. i’m going to start sending in anonymous rumors and see how many get published.

if you don’t like them, don’t read them…. don’t be a grouch… and for goodness sake, if you don’t like “anonymous tips” then don’t play games with this site… some of us actually enjoy it!… well, now that I got that off my chest, any rumors of a 600/5,6 L IS….there’s a piece of equipment id readily dish out for =)

Although a good thing IMHO, 12.2MP are bit hard to believe with the current G10 already boasting 15MP.

I’d take a decent 12MP w/ high ISO over a 15MP that has trouble over ISO 400… Was the one reason I passed on the G10.

I’m more expecting the LX4 for the larger aperture and AVCHD movie mode.

Hej, since Cmos in SX1 is just for frame/s and HD movie, can’t see the point anymore putting this in a G cam. Or they will make a 16/9 screen for it, too ? Oo
Would sound better if they put a 2/3″ sensor with 12Mpixels, CCD would be enough prolly for better ISOs, but of course they can’t make such sensor themselves.
Digit V seems early to me too, but maybe they’re not happy enough with Digit IV afterall.

The GMOS moniker makes me cringe, wonder who’s sharp idea was to call it G-frikin-MOS, makes no sense whatsoever :(

If the G11 has 1080p 20 fps like the Canon EOS 500D / Digital Rebel T1i, the camera HD video
    will be useless.

The G11 will be a good camera IF IF it has at least 1080P with at 30 fps. I would have got the G10 if it had 1080p with 30 fps.

I’d be happy with 720p as long as it’s 30fps.

Also, I’m all for 12MP instead of 15. If they can get better high-ISO performance, I’d take 8MP.

1/1.6″ sensor means a 2×3 aspect ratio, right? That would be cool!

Oh, and for God’s sake, no AVCHD. Keep it a straight h.264 MP4 file PLEASE!

I think really that using a proxy is one of the better ways to unblock myspace. I mean it hides your ip and keeps you safe from admins so I would go with it. Unblock Myspace
