New EOS – March 25, 2009? [CR2]

Just wondering if you guys have any information on a new EOS release due for the 25th March 2009.
Ive been told by a reliable source that there is a new camera to either be released or announced.thats all the information i could get out of him
If a camera is announced, I’d expect a Rebel.

Unlikely.
The 450D is still the #1 DSLR seller worldwide. Don’t see a need for replacement so soon.
The xxD line is the one that needs rethinking.
It’s already been split into two models – 40D and 50D. But Canon needs the $900 model to be more competitive than the 40D (and also cheaper to make – so that it’s more profitable).
The 50D also needs a replacement that’s more high end.
None of these can happen, though, before the new 1D series is released – which does not seem probable before the fall.

Nothing is coming. Let’s move on. Nothing to see here people. You have no good sources at Canon. I have better sources, and you sir have said it the best : [CR2] Take it with a grain of salt.

That .pdf means nothing. Quite apart from the fact its hardly going to pre-announce stuff available 3 months from now or that it would take 10 minutes to update, its already out of date anyway. Where’s the Pro 9000/9500 mkII printers for example?
March 25th is a date like any other. Canon may or may not release something.

I hope its a 7d, a 5d mII but with 12mp cmos, allowing for even better ISO than the nikon d700. And that for the price of 1500 dollars. Making Full frame even more affordable.

It’s either a new Rebel or a 1D Mk IV.
I really hope the next 1D series does away with the 1.3x crop factor and addresses the speed issue by simply decreasing the number of megapixels the DiGiC chip has to process.
A DiGiC IV chip should easily be able to do 10-12fps with a 16MP sensor.

IMHO, the only trustworthy report is that 1Dmk4 is not coming this year. I feel that is why Canon wants to renew the appeal of its 1Dmk3 body, with this recent (but late) call for service.
450D with swivel LCD, anyone?? haha

Two weeks after PMA…come on…if they’re ever gonna announce a new rebel it’ll be either April/May with a summer release or September with a pre-Christmas release. As for 1Dx I think they bought themselves enough time with their firmware update for a Photokina/November announcement.

I would bet money on a 1Dx update. with the 5DII being as good in many areas and better in some, Canon needs to make the 1D line once again stand out above the 5D series.
they have updated a XX then a XXX model recently, then a X model, if there were more difference between the 5DII and the 1D line I would say it was time for another XX update.

Why should Canon bring an new EOS right now after a the PMA?
There is no reason for me, since Nikon also hasn’t brought a new DSLR.

release dates of the precedessors:
300d – 08/2003
350d – 03/2005
400d – 09/2006
450d – 03/2008
500d – xx/200x
i don’t have to use my calculator to make a guess when the next rebel (xsti or whatever they’ll name it) is due.
(hint: it ain’t march!)

Looks like, someone “photoshoped” a 400d ord 450d, doesn’t it ?
Don’t miss understand, i am one of those people can’t wait to get an new rebel, because i don’t want to buy one now cause i am hoping that a new one will come out.

There is no HDMI port which Canon seems to be putting in all the recent models. Unless for some reason they wouldn’t include it with a new 500D.
