I really DON'T get it.

The focusing rings are all going in the Canon direction, but...

The zoom rings all go the wrong way compared to Canon OEM lenses. Would it really be that much more expensive to make them both work the "right" way for each mount?

The same for Tamron, Tokina, Cosina and all the rest... :-(((((

Sigma 18-50mm OS? Depending on price, this could turn out to be a viable alternative to the kit lens. Although with it being f2.8 to 4.5 (as compared to f3.5 - 5.6 on most kit lenses) I doubt it'll be less than three times the price...

A real shame for us budget-conscious consumers who also like to use circular polarizing filters :(

i think this is silly unless it is very inexpensive - 200 or less.
They would have been better to have updated the 17 - 70 2.8-4.5 with HSM and OS and tried to get it in around 300.

if it was going to be something new - a 15 - 60 2.8 would have been cool for the crop sensor folks...

As for the 24-70 i'm hearing some good buzz but it is too expensive to get canon folks to switch and the nikon is just one of the great zooms ever...they needed to do something like make it either wider or longer or add IS to really make it stand out...

Someone above asked for a 200-500 5.6 - they make a 150-500 already...

Same here!! Though I believe it does have HSM already? At least for Nikon. But yes, OS would be nice, plus maybe having it start at 16 :-)

I find all the whining very ironical. Just couple of years ago, when Canon was in the only dude in town with multiple IS lenses, many folks were mocking the need for IS. Now, there is a sudden explosion of cries for more stabilized lenses, even on those relatively wide angled ones. Ha, ha...

@peter: The 10-20 will obviously work on APS-C bodies. As does the 12-24.
And then there's the 17-70.

Sigma 18-50 f/2.8-4.5 DC OS HSM? WTF?

Sigma should have updated the 18-50 f/2.8 EX with OS and HSM - that would be a really nice lens.
