Totally agree. Waited years until the 5D2 to upgrade from my 350D. Waited for many lenses that are appearing now, after I changed to 35mm. ;)
Tamron should really release some new FF lenses, like a 24-70 version of their excellent and cheap 28-75.

Im starting to get a bit pissed off wth all these crop sensor only lenes being releeased. As i have a 5D and 30D i want lenses that will work on both, so this lens does not interest me.

Yeah, under $350 with decent glass and I’d serious consider it. Sounds like a nice available light portrait lens.

Although f2 on a 60mm (96mm equivalent) could be painful to focus.

Unless it is priced very low, it would have a difficult time replacing my 100mm 2.8 which is full frame, and extremely good for a low cost lens. The Canon 60mm Macro also has a reputation as being excellent for the cost.

It seems that they are taking on a uphill battle.

In my country Tamron doesn’t have good service and as we know, sometimes their lenses need it… thus it’d have to be almost as cheap as 50/1,8 to make me consider buying it… but I doubt it would cost so little, i think it will cost similar to 90mm f2,8…

sounds great, but if it doesn’t have internal focusing like the canon, it will be a dud. the working distance isn’t long enough to accommodate a telescopic-focusing lens.

The extra stop means it can double as a low-light/portrait lens.

The Canon version does get very good reviews – this one would have to be very sharp stopped down and usefully sharp wide open to make me consider it.

I wonder why they made it f/2.0. the Canon f/2.8′s already have a pretty low DOF and require high stop and thus tripod to get a good macro. This would just make the job harder…

Obviously, there are uses for it, I am not saying that, but I hope it would be priced below $350 as to gain some advantage on Canon
