The cam realeasing is going faster. The 60D should appear at the end of the year. For a decent price, you’ll have to wait about 3 months minimum. At it’s end, I guess that the prices of the 50D like the 60D will same as the 40D is nowadays :)

So at this point, you can wait years and years without buying any cameras because there always be something new, a new cam, new stuff, and you could say to yourself that you should wait a little bit, more and more :/

I stopped on the 40D and I’m gonna get it this week :)

I’m going to buy one, so : if I wait, is the 50Ds’ price going down ? Same as the actual 40D price ?
Or is the 50D price just stay the same, and the 60D price will be highter ?

I ended up getting my 40D just a month ago, because I was worried about not being able to get a crop cam, with a reasonable mp count. Looks like I got it at just the right time.

I sold my 40D last August preparing to upgrade to the 5D MK II. I missed it so much that I bought another used one. I did buy the 5D II, but haven’t been using the 40D since. Still, when the snow goes away and my injured foot heals, I’ll be using both.

I want a superior ultra wide angle for the 5D MK II and am still waiting for the best one, as well as being able to afford $2,000 or more.

Good Riddance, mine is a piece of junk! I think the 10 MP looks grainy, I can’t imagine how they stuffed 16 MP into the 50D. I think they should have stopped at 8.

I’m sure that you meant to write that you’d rather have higher dynamic range. We don’t need bit count “race nonsense” where one camera can only output a pixel value of “3.141″ while a fancy new camera can output “3.14100000000000″.

yep…bought a 50D….sold it a month later and bought a 5D…. I felt that after looking at the 50D files I saw the writing on the wall for APS-C…. not that its dead yet but the way its going a FF sensor will be able to handle more of this megapixel nonsense than a crop sensor (after all a 21mpx sensor has pixel about the size of those on the 20D)…

I love my 40d, and when I upgrade to FF, I will keep this one for walkaround/tourism and backup camera. Simply put the first professional digital SLR for under $1000,- in my opinion.

Great colours, sharpness, MPX number exactly right, great noise performance, ergonomics, FPS, price… it just has it all!
