Take everything in the Nikon D300 and put in a Canon 14MP 1.3 sensor, for $2000 US. (You do know that the Nikon D300 is a 1.5 corp camera right, so there is no need to go FF against it.) Regarding the Nikon D700, Canon can take everything in the Nikon D700 and put in a 16mp FF sensor, for $3000. Oh, and the f/2.8 is a problem as well ;) Try to calculate what ginormous front elements are required, by just looking at the current lenses (16-35 f/2.8, and then increase things a bit more) An EF-S prime would be cool though, then 20 f/1.4 or a sharp f/1.8 would do for me.
