Nikon Service advisory D5000
- The camera cannot be operated when the power switch is on, even with a fully-charged battery.
- The camera cannot be operated with the EH-5a AC Adapter connected through the EP-5 Power Connector and the power switch on.

Rebel T1i Service advisory is probably imminent. :)
I posted this because people can get pretty angry about a camera service advisory. It has been a rough 24 months for Canon and their quality control. This is just a reminder that no one is immune.

Yes, turning out a new model every year means there will be less time to test, and more of the problems like this, no matter who makes the camera. Of course, some manufacturers just refuse to acknowledge problems, those are the ones to be concerned about.

I really hate it when consumers become beta testers. Any product for that matter. real pain in the ass.

There’s little point singling out Microsoft; all major software companies are guilty of this, particularly game producers/publishers.

D700 has black spot problems that no one want to acknowledge. Canon users are more critical about their products.

well nikon fixed that via firmware, it was first seen on their D3, but since it wasn’t new-camera holiday season people weren’t shooting christmas lights (ideal black dot creation scenario) and then looking at the images @ 200% so no one noticed

It’s just the grass looking greener from afar syndrome. Remember all the “Nikon’s never break” comments when the G10 had a problem a while back? It’s interesting we don’t see all the Nikon bashing when they screw up though.

You forgot about the 1DS mark III AF problem. ;)
That’s why I’ve bought a 5D (mk 1) for about 1000 USD and could buy a 16-35 II with the money i’ve saved :p
