Replacement or Addition?
Received a cryptic email saying that a 400 f/4.5L IS is in development. The lens would fit between the 400 DO and 400 f/5.6. Neither of those lenses would be discontinued.
I’m not sure Canon needs four 400mm lenses. Nor do I have a clue what such a lens would cost.
Interesting concept anyway.
Nikon Roadmap Leak
Everyone has been pretty enamored by the apparent Nikon Roadmap leak.
I’m not a big believer, that is A LOT of lenses to launch in the span of 18 months.
We’ll see though.

Site Outage
Well that was annoying as heck.
For the first time ever, I didn’t actually break the site!
Very sorry about that.
T1/2000D
I can admit when i get bilked.
I got bilked.
None of my solid sources has said anything about the T1/2000D, I only received info from new folks. It didn’t work out.
This is the first time we’ve blown it for a release date. I won’t post anything about it until I get some more solid info from better places.
Rumors
I’m sorting out some site stuff and will be posting some new stuff in the next 2 hours.
Thanks for reading everyone, I really do appreciate it.

The Evolution of the Powershot G
I received an email that Canon does indeed have an APS-C sized sensor “G” camera being tested/developed.
Test Camera Specs
15.1mp CMOS 1.6x Crop
3x Zoom (24-70 IS, no speed information)
3″ 920k LCD
ISO 100-3200
DIGIC V
SD Card
1080p HD Movie Mode
Body is slightly larger than the G10
New Battery
No Viewfinder (Flash shoe VF?)
Flash Shoe
We know a CMOS based G series camera with a larger sensor is coming. The source said we may not see this type of camera until Photokina 2010.

The Return of a Classic
I received the following email today.
“I’ve been told, that the EOS 3D is coming. My source sad to me it will be announced after the replacement from the Nikon D300. It is going to be something between the 1D MarkIII and the 50D/60D. The Body is similar to the 5D MarkII. He won´t me to tell something about the specs but said that the D300/D400 will be blown away.”
Every 6 months or so we see this. There has always been a desire for another EOS body.
On the other hand, this could be the 2nd APS-H camera we’ve talked about before.

Weekly thing?
An email claiming Canon will announce the T1/2000D on July 7, 2009 arrived a short while ago.
“It was scheduled for last tuesday, but since three delays caused so much expectations, management area decided to wait a little more and announce it next week with a lot of fanfare.”
That seems doubtful, I can’t see the T1/2000D garnering a lot of “fanfare”.
Another suggestion is Canon is waiting for the D3000 announcement. It’s rumored Nikon will omit video from it. All signs point to the T1/2000D having video. +1 for Canon.
Still, no CR3 sources have said anything in regards to the T1/2000D.

I’ve heard it before
There has been rumblings in the past about Leica using a Canon sensor in the evolution of the M.
I received an email today stating that Canon and Leica are in negotiations for Canon to supply the sensor in the upcoming Leica M9. It’s written the M9 will utilize a version of the 5D Mark II sensor. The new Leica is to be launched at Photokina 2010 in Germany.
Yes, a full frame digital M!
CR’s Take
I’ve heard about a Leica & Canon marriage before. It’s obvious Leica needs a better solution than the Kodak sensor currently in the M8.
This may be nothing more than someones wish…… and a great wish it is.

DPR Compares Waterproof Cameras
As I have found out using the D10, it is the best underwater P&S on the market. The image quality is very good. I knew it would be just by looking at the camera. The lens is the most impressive of all underwater P&S’s today.
From DPReview
“If you have even glanced at the rest of this review, then the winner should come as no surprise to you at all. The D10 produced the sharpest, most detailed images of all the cameras in this group test at low ISO settings, both in and out of the water. This, combined with responsive performance and a straightforward user interface that has been proven on other cameras in the PowerShot series, means that if you were shopping for a waterproof camera mainly to use in the water, then you can stop reading right now and go order the D10.”

24-70 f/2.8L IS
A couple of people have reported to seeing the lens in the wild. One “witness” said the lens hood was very different.
As with most of these sightings, no pics are available.
35 f/1.8
A 35 f/1.8 is being reported again. NL has posted about it. We posted about it a while ago here and here.
T1/2000D Announcement
We were burned on this one! No T1/2000D as of yet. I have no CR3 sources piping up about such an announcement.
One person commented that perhaps Canon is preparing an announcement with a little more fanfare.
