To lead the trend of digital single-lens reflex Canon EOS 7D Release

1.45x Crop for the 7D?
I was sent an email saying that the new 7D will be APS-C, but with a 1.45x crop factor. Apparently this is the limit so that EF-S lenses still work without vignetting.
First appeared on a DPR forum posting, I couldn’t find the link.
I have no confirmed source for this one.
Tamron 17-50 f/2.8 VC
Received word that someone bumped into a Tamron 17-50 f/2.8 VC (Vibration Correction) on Adorama’s web site. It was retailing for $749. The link has been removed from Adorama’s site.
Adorama give it up early?

Sigma 70-300 f/4-5.6 APO OS Macro
The new Sigma lens would replaced the 70-300 f/4.5.6 APO Macro with a stabilized version.

85 f/1.4
The only rumor I have received about Sigma comes in the form of an 85 f/1.4 being announced. It’s an older rumor.

Pricing Update [CR2]
These are unconfirmed prices I’ve received from a few sources.
In USA: $1699 Body
In Canada: $1999 Body
I have no Europe, Asia or Pacific pricing at the moment.
thanks those who tipped on this
EOS 7D Specs

"EOS 7D"
-18mp
- dual digic 4
- 8 fps
- 19 af points
- ISO 100-6400 (L & H1 & H2)
- 63 metering zones
- 100% viewfinder
- Horizon Help Viewfinder
- 3″ VGA LCD
- FullHD Video
I still stick to the wireless flash master being built in. A few people are writing me saying it’s not in the camera. My source on the issue is top notch.
Sensor Size
The camera is almost obviously APS-C (1.6x Crop)
EF-S Lenses aren’t mounting on an APS-H body (without pulling the back off the lens). The prism on the top of the camera is too small for an APS-H viewfinder with 100% view. That is merely my opinion.
To keep this camera under $2000, I can’t see how they can make a larger sensor. Again, my opinion.

I’m still waiting on CR3 confirmation, so these are one step lower at CR2.

15-85 f/3.5-5.6 IS USM
The macro still holds true.
No 70-200 f/2.8L IS update according to this source.
Good as Gold

The 7D rumor started way back in January. The specs are off, but the concept of the camera has been correct.
I’m promised more to come.

From Facebook, E-Mail & [NL]
Received some information that’s new and matches some recent NL information.
More of the same stuff really.
7D Design Goals

The Lord of Darkness
- Speed (Apparently this may have the highest FPS of any DSLR ever)
- Dual Processors and Card Slots
- HD Video
- Articulating Screen
- Pro Style AF System
- Much Better LiveView Autofocus
- Noise Control
- Increased Dynamic Range
Rebel T1
This should be released alongside the 7D next week. Basically an XSi with a movie mode (720p tops).
60D & 1D4
The 60D will be moved back to a 18 month product cycle and will be released with a 1D4 upgrade in February. The winter Olympics aren’t as big of a deal as the World Cup is. If it was the summer games, different story. There’s no rush to get a 1D4 to the market.
60D may see a megapixel decrease. There will be new emphasis on image quality, noise control and dynamic range.
70-200 f/2.8L IS II
The perfect mate to a new speed demon camera. I’m told to expect it. I don’t have CR3 information on it yet.
As I said, this is more of the same information told in a different way from the last few weeks.
Big White Lenses
I’m also told to expect 2 of the big white lenses to get a redo along with the 1D Mark IV/4. The 500 and 600 are deemed the most likely by at least a couple of sources.
L Primes
I haven’t received any confirmation that the 135L is indeed being replaced. Most of my information I have about L prime updates dates back a fair ways. The 35L II to appear alongside a new 1Ds Mark IV? That’s still all we have at the moment.

From Northlight
One of Northlight’s regular sources is claiming Canon will not announce a new 1D until the new year. That would put the camera on a 3 year product cycle. That would be the same as the 1Ds and 5D. Their source was involved in testing the camera.
Initial reports to us said the same thing some time ago.

Two Coming? (New Source)
Another source has come forward and said Canon will be bringing two macro lenses to us this fall.
The popular 100mm f/2.8 Macro will receive an IS upgrade. The 180 Macro focal length will be changed to 200mm.
The general consensus among most sources is the 70-200 f/2.8L IS will also receive an upgrade.
The other rumored lenses up for replacement are the 35L and 135L. I haven’t received any information about either at this time. I can’t see Canon launching 5 lenses at one time. The original rumor about the 35L is that it will appear with a 1Ds update. I still think that’s a strong possibility.
The new Canon Hybrid IS system will definitely be on display this month, so the primes may just have to wait.

It’s time
With the help of CR regular Cody, we have launched the official Canon Rumors forums.
http://www.canonrumorsforum.com
Why a forum?
The comment threads on the site are getting far too deep and becoming difficult to read.
Beta Test
This is a BETA test. If you notice any bugs or issues let me know. The Facebook community helped during the last few days.
The forums are on a separate server from the web site, so I’ve built in some redundancy in case of issue. I’ll be working posts into the forums, so hopefully most of the comments will move over to the boards!
Have fun!

This is the gist of a message I received about the upcoming SLR announcements.
Announcement of at least 1 DSLR on September 1st/2nd (Depends on planet location).

- Video features will best the 5D Mark II.
- Better AF as compared to the 50D & 5D Mark II.
- Noise Control is better than 50D and arguably better than the 5D Mark II.
- Very similar pixel density to the 5D Mark II.
