Excellent hoefully they bring out an excellent EF-S lens at the same time a new and much improved 17-85 IS USM or a new 17/18-105 IS USM, with ring usm. Brilliant!

It’s called L or Luxury just simply because they use flourite in the glass. L or luxury is the same thing. Why are they called L? Due to flourite!

I’m not saying they are not calling them luxury lenses, but the fact is it is the Flourite that makes them L lenses. If you don’t believe me, or Canon for that matter as they clearly state L lenses use Florite and non-L lenses dont, please explain how the $5500 white weather sealed 400mm 4.0 DO is NOT a luxury lens?

Other than the lack of Flourite, name one thing that does not make it a luxury lens?

Do you think people spending $5500 on a lens are believing it’s not a luxury lens?

Sure Canon marketing might say L is for luxury, but then what about the 400 4.0 DO that not an L lens for $5500? Marketing people don’t always think things through. As Canon states about the L lenses, they are all made with Flourite elements, and no other lens except L lenses use Flourite.

I am with you David, having it in white would be perfect. Of course, I also want internal zooming also just because the 70-200 lenses have me spoiled.
