…and for everyone worried about the poor 5D2 being out done by the 3D, get over it, 5D3 will be coming around the corner…

The only things I would even consider trading up from my mkII to a new version would be having the same focusing system/AF points as the new 1Ds and similar weather sealing. Otherwise, it will be some time before that one leaves my bag. (although a mkIII with the same rumored 32mp as the 1Ds might change my landscape photographer’s mind, we’re getting to the “and you need a medium format camera in your lineup…why?” place)

I don’t believe that the EOS1 will in any way impact 7D sales. Two totally different markets, Adam. The rumored 12 FPS at 14 bits for the straight 1 and 32mpixel size of the “s”, using new processor plus the addition of solid video are aimed squarely at pushing the EOS1 well past its Nikon competitor and creating a genuine gap between itself and the 5D mkII.

that rumor has been showing up lately,
I ghink that the 1D series has to do something
different than 5D2 & 7D for video, something pros will love and can’t be without, RAW, time code, XLR
audio in, faster readout(no jello)

I thought the rumours suggested that the Digic 5 processor would allow for better video to be recorded (including proper binning rather than line-skipping) but I didn’t realise that RAW video was rumoured. Is RAW video really part of the rumoured specs?

1DV with Digic V sounds like a marketing departments wet dream.

wasn’t there a rumor of a new rebel this fall?
with a DigicV under the hood?

I can’t see Canon changing the 1D to a 3D,
1 series = Flagship, top of the line everything, 2 models: one fast, one high rez.

the only APS-H body will be 1D, if it’s not FF.

5D will most likely continue to match sensors with 1Ds.

7D nuff said.

3D if/when it shows up, I really can’t see it being anything
but FF, APS-H is an oddity in Canon’s lineup, it was a solution to a problem that doesn’t exist any more.

I certainly hope they are releasing the 1D Mk4 next year. I have spent enough time researching the 5D2 only to conclude that the 7D would ultimately be more usable for video. Having just ordered a 7D that will be shipping very soon, I’d be outright livid if Canon were to release the new 1D within the same month I bought this one.

nothing new here. we all know that DIGIC V will be more geared to video.

The question of when is simple. it will be After the D3s release. Just like when canon waited for nikon to release the D300s to then release their 7d.

I would like to hear opinions of people with more experience than me (in terms of time). But here is my guess:

If there are two scenarios (now we have one in october 2009 and one in spring 2010), the one actually happening will be always the latest, the further, the worst!

Am I right? Has it been this way formerly?

they call it the Digic of Death… oh wait that’s what Nikon calls it

other people have covered this topic before. either Canon goes straight to the 5, or, since it is written Mark IV not Mark 4, they may not have an issue with it.

minor issue, it’s not like they won’t update the 1 series because the next iteration is the 4th.
