Mark, sorry about that, the Navy came forth and told us we needed to scrap all of the footage after our website crashed with all the hits. We have taken care of that problem and move onward and upward. We have a new BMW short film on hurlbutvisuals now, take a look. I hope you enjoy

Thanks, this is good to know about. I agree with this statement.

My experience is that the lens used makes a bigger difference than a little extra resolution on the sensor.

A 5d Mark 2 with a top quality prime will blow away film with a zoom.

Proved that you could use a camera with max resolution being (1920 x 1080) and still look great on the big screen. And crank even used a worse camera (Canon HF10) for a ton of their shots.

Proved it wrong in that people couldn't notice the use of the 5d mark 2 even on the big screen?

or wrong in that they could notice the difference even on a DVD?

Jeff, I agree, we started out on this film with a hybrid idea, the only 5D was going to be when the SEALS were in operation mode. The camera was so new, and I did not feel comfortable using it for the whole movie. I truly was jumping in head first on a major theatrical release with 300 of the 3500 screens set aside for IMAX, As I started to figure the camera out and added the Panavision Primo primes to my arsenal, the idea of using film dwindled and the 5D became king. All the best Shane

Thanks for posting it, it's incredibly inspiring stuff to see how well it meshes. Hard to believe it's a $2500 camera putting out that good of an image.

I wanted to thank everyone who participated in the contest. You ROCK!!!!! We had so many hits on Hurlbut Visuals with the 1080HD being viewed and downloaded that the server crashed at about 4:00am pst. Our technical support is working on getting us back up and running but you all slayed my server, burnt the processor. Feel great about that. The Navy has now said that they need to scrub the footage and we need to pull the MIO down, so we will be cutting our contest short. We will evaluate all the participants and post the winner. Once our server is back up we will be running a BMW lights commercial shot on the 5D and a Nikon D3 still camera. It is visual eye candy, super speed. Test of the 1D vs. 5D iso to follow. This is so amazing and I thank you all for the passion. Shane

Jack, When you put the Panavision Primo primes on the 5D it is film. I have tested at Company 3 with Stephan Sonnefeld and this stuff rocks. The MIO Navy Seal take down of the Yacht was my first attempt with this camera, still using Canon EF and L series glass. When you see the film which is titled "The Only Easy Day was Yesterday" you will see the power of this small camera. Just to get everyones head straight. This is being released on 300 IMAX screens across the US. So not 30 or 40 ft screens, 60 to 90 ft. Hold on!!!!!!

Don't believe all that crap from the RedUser Forum that the Canon 5D can't compete on a big screen, I've seen the 5D blown up 30 feet wide and it looked stunning, no one outside of a Red Fanboy would complain. Trust me, I'm a pixel peeper myself, but the fact is you CAN make lovely Big Screen movies on these little VDSLR's, it's a very interesting time for cinema, just waiting for a 3D VDSLR now!
