That is great news. With the success of the 5D MkII and now the 7D, plenty more $$$ should roll in. No more excuse for Canon to not make new lenses and update old ones eg:
    a EF200-500/5.6L IS and EF400/f5.6L.

Yea and all their other “toys” jumping in price 10% or more, i’d expect theyre making a big profit too!

Much of the pricing changes are due to the US greenback loosing ground against the Japanese Yen- which hits Canon’s bottomline hard.

The most recent report shows a slightly different picture but not totally unexpected considering the current financial market.

I was wondering with your $692,000,000 budget if you could run more contests giving away things then? ;-)

Since when does Nikon give stuff away? If anything they’re a bit more expensive than Canon.

Wonder why Nikon’s been losing money big time the last few quarters.

Actually they overhauled the prices not only the devaluation of the US currency but also the failure to keep leading the dslr marketshares as nikon has taken a bigger pc of the pot with their mid-range dslrs like the d300 and d90, another one that made canon report lost profits was the early launching and dissapointing performance of the ill fated 50D which a lot of canon potential upgraders just skipped (like me for example), eventually they’ll recover now with the 7D on the market and is not fair the canon has hiken the prices by up to 30% in some items like the 580EXII which you could get 6 months ago for US$ 380 and now it cost 40 extra dollars. dammit i should it bought back then !
