we were right — the 7D was simply the Baby Jesus of Darkness.
check Laforet’s blog — the 1D is the true Lord of Darkness

These are the specs I’ve been praying for. FF would have been a big mistake and they hit the sweet spot at 16mp. The added precision focus points combined with a new servo setting promise to make this an action photographer’s dreams come true.
WaHoooo!

man, the 7d is the a real dream for sport photographers(I have tried in in couple of pro soccer matches). I can imagine how the mark IV can build on that and make a greater dream.

Well I suppose it’s another 12 months before I spend $15K on Canon gear. No full frame :o(
On a positive side, it means I can afford my new car now.

Hum… I hope the rest of the specs are not the same as the MKIII. Where is the…
- 3D color metering like the 7D?
- And the Camera level tools?
- And … there is no Double cross sensor like the 7D?
- Dual Digic 4? Not 5?
- 16mp? VS the 7D 18mp? Yes it’s 10fps not 8 and will have bigger buffer i get this.
I like my 1DII really much… I would have hoped they would make the MKIV a revolution (1D > 1DII type) more than an evolution… oh well…

Canon has bet the farm on its AF. We’ll see if it’s harvest time. Might be the Reaper for Canon.

All fine and dandy, great camera from the looks of it so far but I’m still crossing my fingers for (please god) a 70-200 2.8 USM II with HIS!
I’m really hoping for a couple “wowing” L lenses before the end of the year but alas I’ve seen little to no rumors on any lenses… Please canon cameras are nice and all for your flagship and promoting the brand but >>LENSES PLEASE<<

Nothing special, an apsh camera with 7d features + Better AF, its not too revolutionary. (digic 4???) Its a cool thing, now. But i dont know how will it last for an another 3years. If AF really works maybe it can, but, how knows.

at least I got it right on the sensor size and video!
well, I’m seprised that it got the digic IV and not V. I thought that the 7d is the last we see from Digic IV.
in term of ISO, I believe that it will match if not exceed the 5d mark II ISO Performance.

As a matter of fact, I really hope that there will be an EF50/1.4USM HIS, and a 17-40/4L HIS too, for I am getting old hands shaking more than 10 years ago and more and more fond of video shooting than photos.

I just pre-ordered it on Amazon…anyone know if they do first-come-first serve ?
I think people overlook the many useful functions listed in the press release, not everything may sound spectacular, but it sure sounds efficient.
As far as the Canon EF 200 F/2 IS L is concerned…I worship mine. I remember opening the first RAW files, thinking…hmm..I sharpened this already ? Crazy lens.

Nice specs, but is it worth 3 times the cost of the 7D? (current UK prices). Is the AF that much better?
I also can’t see how a 1Ds will compete with a D3X based on that pricing.
I was expecting atleast £1000 less.
The post that was removed that mentioned 720p at 120fps definitely got my interest.
