Gura Gear Kiboko Giveaway – Click Here

October 4th, 2009 Posted in Contests

Contest Revised (October 9, 2009)
So, turnout has been a bit lower than I had hoped for this contest. I stroll around message boards and people are shooting their gear a lot. So I’ve switched things up to maybe spark an onslaught of entries. The way this one goes with determine if we do more giveaways in the future. I have another planned already and it’s bigger.

There have been some really cool entries so far, I just want to see more. Remember, even if you don’t win the bag… you may get a T-Shirt!

Revisions
1) You can enter more than once, but only post one image per message board post.
2) Pictures showing your $150,000 in gear would be great photos!
3) Cats are allowed to appear in your photos.
4) The Gura Gear Kiboko is awesome
5) Have fun.

its a great chance to shoot my 7d .. :P

yes i got it at last !! and here is my mini review:

    underrated features:
    1- the view finder
    2- the body feel
    3- the weather sealing
4- the auto focus. (I know people are excited but seeing this thing in action is something else).

    overrated features:
1- the ISO. (typical APS-C like)
2- the buttons distribution (needs time to get used to).
3- the direct print button. :p

That’s one big bag! Even my Pelican 1600 case isn’t quite wide enough for a body, wide angle lens and a 70-200!

2 months ago I purchased a Thinktank Streetwalker Harddrive. All I can say is that it’s amazing. I used it for a 2 week trip to British Columbia and for 2 weeks I had it with me almost 100% of the time.

I find the Kiboko is comparable in size, I’ll admit it most likely can carry more.

Here is the most gear I fitted in my Think Tank:

    Canon 40D + Grip
    Canon XT

    Canon 70-200L 2.8 IS
    Canon 24-105L
    Canon 50 1.8 II
    Tokina 11-16 2.8

    4 Filters
    Tons of accessories
    Canon P&S SD600
    3 batteries chargers
    4xCF Cards
    Think Thank Rain Bag Cover

    IBM T60 /with acc.
    Ext. HDD

Manfrotto 055x Prob with 804RC2 (Outside of bag)

Anyone knows why the Kiboko bag is so expensive?

LOL Very good CR guy !

With this contest, you gave an amazing opportunity to all these guies to just send out the list of all the stuff they got.

Honestly, none of us cares about what you put in your bag… and you do not care too !!!

The only thing you want to do is show off all the stuff you got.

Show me some pics and I will start thinking you are photographer. But listing all the bodies and lenses you got… so lame…

    Seriously what bit you today?

Calm down…coming here and screaming like a pansy doesn’t add to the discussion.

Who are you to assume what everyone thinks? It’s a contest it’s for fun. Get with the program, no need to be a drama Queen.

How can one upload whacky pshopped files like some of the examples that are collages then have a raw file to send for “proof” ?

    Canon Rumors Reply:

“Photo manipulation is allowed! I still need the raw file of the piece(s) of gear you used for the image. (example in the thread)”

Now how do I take pictures of my gear, without using my gear? :)

    Reply

    5DMark2 Reply:

lol, well, there are some possibilities, (using another camera or P&S) if you don’t find any, you can still shoot only part of your gear without the camera and use the body and 1 lens for the task.

    Reply

    5DMark2 Reply:

sure, a P&S with RAW capabilities..

plenty of P&S have RAW, like the wonderful G10. But the winers won, no RAW required anymore.

Hi, I saw the new contest and I wonder if I can take a part,
I’m not from the states described in the list, I’m from Israel, so
I will be more than happy to participate.

By the way – there is a theme to this contest or just “gear crazy”?…
’cause I can burn my 800mm L and shoot it  (neeeh, never)

    Best regards,

As long as there isn’t any issue shipping to Israel from the USA, you can enter.

I hold residency in the US but live between Sudan and Kenya at the moment (missionary doing media). During this contest I’ll be in Sudan. Can I do it? Unfortunately I don’t have all my gear with me (I do video as well) but have enough to do something fun with what I’ve got.

You can ship to Nairobi pretty easily.

Quote: “So, turnout has been a bit lower than I had hoped for this contest”
Main reason for this may be: most readers (i hope) want to read rumours and don’t come here to win prices via a contest. If you want to give away prices, fine, just open a post where readers can leaf their email adres (hidden) and give the price to one of them.

Also the contest has been sticking to the top of the screen, please remove this contest (and future ones) to another section of the screen (left or right). The main section of the screen should be for rumours.

Final: Keep up collecting and posting rumours!!

I agree. I rushed my shot cause the prep took more time than expected and tried to get it in under the deadline. This was after I switched up my concept 3 times, each time after heavy deliberation. I suspect a few of the other late entries had similar situations.
