From DPReview
Samyang Optics has announced a delay in production of its new 14mm f/2.8 IF ED MC Aspherical lens. According to the company, the delay is due to partial redesigning of the lens construction and further improvements. The lens will now be available in the first quarter of 2010.

Correction
Canon not selling to Ritz isn’t part of the bankruptcy proceedings. The issue is Ritz got to write-off a ton of debt to Canon.
Canon & Ritz couldn’t work out a new deal before the Christmas season.
Thanks for the clarification Eric
Not until 2010 at the earliest
Canon will not be selling them any new stock for the Christmas season to Ritz Camera. Canon will sell to the retail chain during Q1 2010 at the earliest.
Ritz will be sending existing Canon stock to the “Ultra Store” locations. Apparently they’re for the higher end gear.

So says DSLR Magazine (This is a Babelfish Translation, so the english is broken)
Of generally well informed sources, it has been possible to know that Canon could announce new features next day 20 of October.
As products star of that presentation, and always according to the mentioned sources, 1D Mark III would be the substitute of Canon EOS, perhaps “Canon EOS 1D Mark IV” or a new less complicated name as well as a new professional zoom lens EF 200 mm f/2,8. The characteristics characteristic of this last one could include more – than probably the new system of stabilization incorporated by the company/signature in their last presented/displayed objectives (IFA).
With regard to new “Canon EOS 1D Mark IV”, a very fast camera for fotoreporteros, comments in internal circles that, of course, are not going away to commercialize until “they have not given to cane” the professionals him in field tests, and it in order to avoid the accumulation of problems esperimentados by the previous models.
On the other hand, Canon has announced that will not go to fair WFP of the 2010, which without a doubt will be a certain blow for the organization.
The alluded to reasons are that “the form is being reconsidered in become the things”, and one cannot stop thinking if the fact to have changed the attractiveness soothes of Fertile valleys (Snowed), by the still more distant and dull Anaheim, will not have had its influence.
Canon, unlike Nikon, will not have either is present at direct in the Sonimagfoto & Multimedia that abre its doors in Barcelona tomorrow.
CR’s Take
No credible sources I have peg the camera for October, they all say January.
How reliable is DSLR Magazine?
I’m on the road, so I will check their track record when I return home.

From somewhere in the EU
I received information that an unnamed marketing/advertising agency in Europe received a worklist for projects pertaining to Canon DSLR’s and video cameras. One of the cameras mentioned is a 1D Mark 4. The due date for the project from Canon is January 12, 2010.
This goes with our “end of January” information for an announcement.

m4/3 Competitor
Received some information about a possible Canon competitor to the Olympus/Panasonic micro 4/3 cameras.

No Micro Canon Yet
Canon is researching such a camera design. There is a lot of close attention being paid to the success or failure of the system. Canon has no immediate plans to introduce such a camera to the marketplace, nor do they have any plans to become part of the micro 4/3 mount.
Canon’s interest seems to lie in making a CMOS based APS-C compact camera with a zoom. Not a new system. Leica and Sigma both have APS-C compact cameras now, albeit with a prime lens. Also, Nikon is rumored to perhaps have the same thing coming down their pipeline.
Another issue with a Micro Canon is the need for a 3rd lens format. EF-S and EF lenses would generally be too big on an EP1 sized camera. Do you think Canon really wants to get into that? If they did want a new lens format, medium format would be a far more desirable market.
All is not lost in the quest for a small camera body. You can expect a smaller Rebel down the line with an electronic viewfinder. It won’t be as small as the EP1 or GF1, but taking out the mirror box will shrink the size.
No new news on the often spoken about “G”MOS camera.

Oh dear!
I received an email today with an official looking spec list of an EOS 7Ds, amazingly it’s also 18mp!
There is no 7Ds. A 7Ds would be know as a 5D Mark II for the most part.
1D Mark 4
A report from Germany cites a salesman at a CPS store in Regensburg as saying a new 1D would be announced next week. Perhaps the salesman was thinking Nikon D3s.

Not October
One of my better sources of information has finally let me know what’s going on with the 1D4 announcement.
The magical date? The “end of January”.
This was also corroborated by a few other sources.
This is not a hard release timeframe, if issues arise with the camera, it could be delayed. No press conference or official showing has been set yet.
Specs [CR1] (the consensus from various places)
16mp
12fps
1.3x (APS-H)
1080p Video (24p/25p 30p 60p)
Apparently this camera is the most locked down product in Canon’s history as far as who really know what’s going on with it.

Going going…..
I just received an email in regards to a replacement of the 24-105 f/4L IS. The email says the new lens is slightly wider and longer while retaining the f/4 aperture. The new Hybrid IS will be implemented in the lens.
The writer of the email claims to have seen the lens.
This is the first I’ve heard of it. I’ll ask around.
