Hmm… I seriously doubt Canon will put an articulating screen on it. All the other specs seems pretty “safe”, tough..

The articulating screen is a great video feature, which the D5000 has, doubt Canon will let Nikon one up them on a video feature for long. Too bad its only 720p.

So how is this camera new other than the articulating screen? Sounds like a 500D for the most part.

That’s exactly the point David, it is a cheaper, entry level version of 500D, simply 1000D refreshed.

I’m still considering adding a GH1 to my gear just to get 1080p with a articulating screen…would be great if Canon added something like the G11 screen to the DSLR line.

I demand a 5″ gesticulating screen, and 28 megapixels APS-C! (By 2014 you know this will be standard. :P)

I demand a masticating screen. Follow me to my time machine, we can settle this.

Ew that’s disgusting. Don’t say such things. It will be a “self pleasure” machine as we put it.
And yes, 28 MP will be incredibly small by 2014. I predelicted it.

I’d like a articulating screen, but on a higher level DSLR. Not much chance even though it would be very useful for low level shots, overhead shots, and, of course, video (if they ever get autofocus to work better.)

I have seen surf photos like the ones on my website shot with the 1d4 and man the color range of the blues is so much more film like. Really excited about the video on the 1d4.

Should i get this or get the T1i now? the T1/2000d comes out in May-to-July 2010.i doubt the specs will be higher. maybe 30fps@1080 now? 15-16mp?maybe faster 4-5fps?

I personally think: definitely not faster. At first, the XXXD series has to get higher fps rate… Canon is taking very small steps at this stage 350D – 500D are all in the same range with 3-3.5 fps. I’d love to see higher continuous shooting rates at the “entry-level” models. But I don’t think the lowest will make the start ;).

A new XSi or used T1i will cost the same as this when it comes out. On the low end, the prices drop so steeply so quickly that Canon’s old (higher end) models infringe on the new (low end) ones. Really not the best strategy. I bought and sold a used T1i for $675 in July and $615 in October (respectively). $550 used T1i’s before Christmas is my prediction. T1i is a heck of a camera btw.

So the 2000D will come out in 2010? When exactly? Does anyone has information on that? And more interesting for me, what will it cost? And how will it influcence the prices of 1000D and the newer xxxD’s? Many questions…
