Hi I was just wondering where they are at with the ML firmware for the 7d. I haven’t seen much more news about it in months?

Is there any rumours about Tramell diving into the eos1d-mark4 firmware with his magical lantern.

Especially his improvement on the audio-side would be fantastic for us mark4-users. amazing, that canon hasnt given us the possibility to switch of agc (automatic gain control) – anybody in contact with tramell hudson ???

Looks like the next version will have an autoboot feature, as well as full 1080p HDMI output WHILE recording, awesome!

I’ve been hoping that Magic Lantern would be ported to the 7D all the time as I save up for my 7D! :o)

Not trying to play down the guy’s skills, he’s probably a very sharp fella.

However the new “features” is a very rough hack, I can’t imagine someone willing to put up with the repeated “remove battery, restart camera” workarounds for the lockups and memory leaks.

This guy must spend all his waking hours and still do some of the work in his sleep.

although I do not do video, I do use focus stacking and run a tethered program to do it.

I will now have to try his firmware program. This could allow high depth of field photography with wide open apertures in low light, virtually impossible now in any practical sense.

We announced few days ago there would be some news on 7D improvements…

This is just the beginning :)

All take LOT of time indeed. Really hard work, and big credit to Hudson’s skills and efforts.

We still hope Canon give at least some documentation to help on improvements, that would be so great. Are we dreaming?… Maybe, but who knows..?

We also REALLY HOPE Canon includes some (or many) Magic Lantern’s features in upcoming Firmware for 5D Mark II.

LOT of current (and future) customers are really interested in ML’s features. And the 5D Mark II has HUGE potential inside, not exploited yet.

There are also lot of POSSIBLE fixes and improvements (via Firmware Update) for the 5D2 being requested by thousands of customers.
