If its sharper then yout TS-E 90, your TS-E needs repair, or it is not correctly focused.

The TS-E 90 is sharper, and as expected, in the corners it makes the 100L look awful. Viginetting is also a tiny fraction of the 100L

The 100 2.8L is phenomenally sharp, but so was the “old” 100 2.8 macro. I’ve done portraits with both, and they are so sharp that it will point out skin wrinkles, etc. It’s good to have this problem, though, because you can always soften in PP.

We just picked one up. It is amazing!!! We have the 90mm TSE and 85mm 1.2 II and this is way sharper than either of them That was shooting at 2.8 on all cameras. Also the focusing seems to be way fast and quite. This is the sharpest lens I’ve used. I think these new lenses are some of the sharpest lenses made. even compared to the Carl Zeiss.

From the sample looks like this lens is ideally suited for APS-C cameras. It looks quite poor on the 5D

The new 100mm Macro is great.

I love it for portraits.

I wish it was f2.0 though.

f/1.2 will likely cost a fortune. I would be happy with an f/1.8 that has a more affordable price.

the 100 2.8L should be an excellent lens for events(weddings/parties) as well. the L should be a plus for the 50D which i use to shoot said events.

BTW, the Canon 100 2.8 IS is fantastic. I have a 5DMK2 and it’s very sharp.
