Firmware Updates For Everyone!

well, almost everyone.
The following firmware is said to update these cameras to work with the WFT-E2 II.

The 5D Mark II gets an added fix, see the note.

Stealth Upgrades?
I’m not sure if anyone has ever confirmed a Canon firmware update to include undisclosed tweaks and fixes. Anyone know for sure?

PowerShot G11 Review – DPReview

Canon PowerShot G11

Canon PowerShot G11

Highly Recommended (Just)
DPReview has completed their review of the Canon PowerShot G11

Conclusion
“….The G11 combines some of the best compact camera image quality with excellent levels of manual control, an optical viewfinder, flip-out screen, raw capability, superb battery life, flexible lens range and the ability to mount dedicated flashguns. It may not be the smallest camera out there (in fact it’s one of the largest to use such a small sensor), but, if you can live with the compromises this all-round ability brings, then there’s little that can touch it.”

Read The Complete Review: http://www.dpreview.com/….

I’ve played around with one, but not enough to give it a decent review. I know it’s photographer’s point and shoot, but I still wish it had at least 720p video. I guess they have to give us a reason to buy a G12 next year.

Canon does a pretty good job of not screwing up successors (there have been a couple), the G11 holds true to that standard.

1D Mark IV Delivery?
I’ve received a couple emails that state Canon will begin shipping Mark IV’s mid next week. I have nothing 100% confirmed.

EOS 60D
Lots of 60D questions. I haven’t received any super solid information.

Some things that have popped up over the last month or so. I [CR1] all of this.

1) 60D will be launched in the Spring 2010 and shipping before summer
2) Upgraded 15.1mp sensor
3) 720P video at 24, 25, 30 & 60 fps (No 1080p mode)
4) Same AF system as the 50D with some AI tweaks.
5) 6.3fps remains.

As I said, not much is too solid at this point.

Lenses
I’ve had a lot of emails saying how happy people would be if a 600 f/4 DO actually gets made. If they correct the low contrast shown in the 400 DO, we could have a big winner.

I did receive an email saying we’d see 2 new fisheyes launched in 2010. One for APS-C and one to replace the 15mm fisheye.

Who Says Rebels Aren’t Built Tough?

Skydiving without a shoot….
A Canon EOS Rebel XT and all its plastic glory took to the skies and fell a long long way back to earth. The Rebel XT in question has lived to snap again.

The EOS-1 has nothing on this badboy

The kind folks at Lomography have donated a bundle of their Diana F+ lenses to use with your Canon EOS Camera.

All this could be yours!

All this could be yours!

What is Lomography?
The Lomographic movement started upon the discovery of the Lomo Kompakt Automat (aka the LC-A) in 1991. The compact-sized Russian camera became renowned for its unique effects such as light leaks, vignette shadowing, and rich, saturated colours. As its fan base grew overtime, the community expanded into a worldwide phenomenon, filling every space with a stream of Lomographs to build amazing Lomowalls. From then on, the community has not stopped coming up with all sorts of creative analogue ideas (and we have not stopped cooking up with fun and exciting Lomographic tools, as well!) that keep Lomographers busy tinkering with their special projects, exhibitions, and collaborations.

I want to see examples
This is a great gallery of some truly creative images, please take a look: Lomography Gallery

Secondary Prize?
You bet! I’ll be giving away a couple of Canon Rumors t-shirts!

The Catch?
You will receive a newsletter from time to time from Lomography. You can opt out of it later.

5D Mark II Firmware 1.2.4?

From a Chinese Forum

New Firmware Version?

New Firmware Version?

Apparently the new version doesn’t add the new functionality we’ve all been waiting for.

Forum Link: http://translate.google.de/…..

I did receive an email a couple days ago saying we’d see a new firmware for the 5D Mark II to make it compatible with the WFT-E4 II. That new firmware should appear any day now I’m told.
