definitely think the glass is more important than the body.

own a 5D. havent seen any new body that makes me want to upgrade. so i always opt for more glass.

mark iv looks like what i want but the. cropped sensor is a tough buy for me. definitely dont want to go back to cropped sensor.

have to admit that nikons bodies are much more enticing than what canon has been putting out. but i have 5L lenses so cant really jump ship.

not sure why they chose to do a usm ii of the 70-200L lens.

cmon canon. what are you thinking?

Pretty interesting stuff you guys have to say. I own a 1DsMark111. I put my skills a little below pro. This camera is great for my needs, mainly architectural. A lot of my shots are from a tripod, with the 16-35L. I was hoping to see the video capture feature in a IDsMarkIV. Right now I like to shoot some video for my work as well and use a GL2. I'm only after good quality shorts for renovation job site progress clips. It would be very nice to go up to HD, but will the system work? What do you think we can expect? I think if the video capacity is added, and it is good, others might be talked into trading their Mark111 in.

Agree. They do have to produce an answer to Nikon's 14-24/2.8. They've already addressed the 70-200/2.8 with an update.

Yes, of course, that makes sense. I would like to see (and would buy unless price is crazy) a 1Ds4 with 32mpx. However, there are some issues with increasing mpx count:

- Resolution: Lenses simply cannot resolve much more than the current max density of 24mpx (D3x). We are reaching a real 'physical' limitation. All those point and shoots with 18mpx are a good way to sell hard drives. Junk pixels.

- Noise: Noise level for the sensor size implied by a 32mpx count is very hard to make low. Those people saying you can get the same noise level from a 32mpx density than you can from a 18mpx (and I have not yet seen if that can match D3s's 12mpx density levels) are on something.

- Color performance: As you reach a 32mpx density on a 24x36 format, I wonder what you can do to the edges to avoid massive color fringes (and the resulting lower effective resolution at the edges). Leica is already doing some intricate microlensing on the M9 to avoid this problem, and that's with an 18mpx sensor.

Clearly Canon's engineers have a formidable challenge here. It's not all that different from the processor speed challenge of Intel et al. It seems to me that after all the only way forward (that is higher resolution if you need it) is the Leica S2 way (or the H3 way).

Also, I wish Canon really got their act together in terms of autofocus and ergonomics. I personally think Nikon has done way better in these two regards.

Hey Guys, All this talk about the 1Ds Mk4.... what about the 1D Mk4??? We don't even have any here in the states yet, I've put money down, waiting and waiting, come on Canon!!, Have I got to order one from Sweden?? And all this talk about features... does anyone actually shoot? I'm a pro shooter and have been amazed how crappy new camera's are, even the 7d is a silly little toy, Who's idea was it to put a round knob on the camera... without a lock? and this high asa??? I shot low light action last week, HA!! the grain is unusable above 1200asa, 800asa is almost acceptable for print... and of course low light focusing is just a joke, I don't know what kind of focus group Canon uses but they must only shoot flowers and pets.

Canon U.S.A. has a product tour up for the EOS-1D Mark IV. This is somewhat odd, as it isn't selling in US stores yet!

It will be a long time till there will be a FF Rebel.
And only if Nikon & Sony release a <$2000 FF.

I'm sure we'll see a 3D FF body before a Rebel FF(9D?).

3D will be this fall at earliest :(
Canon won't release 2 FF bodies at the same time....
unless they actually listen to their customers.

"the 1Ds4 will contain some 7D design features"
APS-C sensor!! LOL

I'm thinking it will be one or all of these:
lcd focus screen,
iFCL metering,
Electronic level display.

I'm thinking that the AF sensors will be like the 1DIV,

No, the camera that *needs* an update is the 5DMkII, specifically the AF and lower noise at higher ISOs.
