I heard (wish) it’s the 6D. A 7D with an improved 5D (12MP) sensor. Come on Canon give me what I want.

Hell freezes over first I’m affraid.

Just like all the frustrated wedding photographers here, I was not asked by Canon when they were creating the 7D. I wonder who they have asked?

You know all these people buying “the latest and greatest” cameras just set it on P-rofessional mode anyway.

Skilled photographers shoot manual, spot meter, use FEL, and select white balance based on conditions.

All the fancy auto algorithms prevent them from getting what they want and introduce unpredictability to the final product.

@stuart: you are not far from a good guess…;-)time will tell…with the advantage, that the 25k pictures maybe get as usable as the 12k of the 7D due to less MP crammed on a crop sensor…I was bad in physics…therefore I cannot give an empirical proof to that. my two cents dream only

If canon can do a 7D 18MP at 12800, then i hope they now choose to do a 15MP 60d at 25600.

True, but only at a basic level, a better camera will give you better chances to get the shot you want. If not i’d always use my camera phone.

I want better low light shots, so ISO12800/25600 will be better than my ISO1600 400D, this will give me brighter shots, focused quicker, taken at higher shutter speeds or smaller apetures.

More focus points = better, faster auto focus decisions.
Better processor = faster shot decisions, metering and transfer speed.
Combine this with a faster focussing lens and better in focus action shots are possible.

More metering types = better colour and exposure.

More megaPixels = potentially bigger prints or more generous crops if ISO is really improved along with pixels.

Addons – Video, Spirit level, GPS etc. all add to what becomes possible.

So, if used well, a better tool will do a good job in more scenarios than a simple one.
Presently, i’m sometimes a better photographer than my camera allows, and sometimes my camera is a better tool than me. I want the camera to always be better than me so that it restricts my shots less often.

OK…obviously you use you camera equipment different than me, and that’s OK….but it is your negative tone, a real lack of imagination, and closed mindedness……..I will try to educate you …..but it is up to you, I can only lead you to the water……..page 224 of the 1D4 manual…you can download it from the Canon site…..C.Fn III-11 – Switch to registered AF Point…..read it for yourself….I have no more time for this.

3D – I disagree with those that say there is no room for a 3D in canon’s lineup.

Us wedding / portrait photographers are crying out for a 5DMk11 that focuses faster (eye focus was great back in the ’90′s so why not now) about 5fps, 15-18mp, and maybe just maybe the beaut freature from the 1 series – dual card slots. Come on CANON make us a camera we will be proud of.
There are so many dedicated wedding and portrait photographers out there using your products now – its time to swing the DSLR war back in your favour…

Have you actually ever used a multi-controller? Such operation like changing your focus point out of 45 will be MUCH slower than taking two shots using focus and recompose method, and also much less comfortable. And of course since the sensor will be crowded with those AF points they will not be all cross type so the camera will take longer to focus assuming it will even focus at all in those dim conditions. No thank you, I’d rather have a fewer but faster and more accurate AF points.

You’ve heard of the Multi-controller button….right?

Even Canon is getting better by adding landscape/portrait auto AF change in the 7D….very nice Canon.
