PowerShot Rumors [CR2]

January 29th, 2010 Posted in Canon PowerShot

Two More Announcement Dates?
I  received confirmation of 2 replacement PowerShots that will be available in March. The SD780 and SD1200 will have direct replacements. They’ll basically be the same size with corners that are a bit more rounded.

I have no specs.

The interesting 2nd part of the mail was there would be another compact available for June. No word about the compact. It’d be unusual for Canon to have 3 separate announcements for PowerShot cameras in one season.

Who Cares? dSLRs!!
All is quiet for the moment. Sorry I can’t be more of a help!

Any chance that more Canon compacts will regain aperture & shutter priority now that the new Panasonic TZs have been announced with these modes? Or does Canon consider anyone that does not want to shell out for an S90 unworthy of them.

Not that I care that much, it would be nice to see Panasonic have some competition, but I have no brand loyalty when it comes to compacts. Doubt I would for DSLRs if lenses had a universal mount!

Hej, I think this time, pana. copied canon about manual modes on TZ, so now all we need is pana. releasing a new LZ again. ^^

Off subject: according to DPreview Canon has just made their 50 millionth EF lens. Nikon apparantly reached 50 million F mount lens in September 2009, so it took them 50 years vs. 23 yrs?!!!

Yep, further proof of real DSLR marketshare, unlike the self-proclaimed experts on the Intarwebs. I can’t believe some people are still moaning & groaning until now that Canon shouldn’t have abandoned the FD mount for the all-electronic & larger-diameter EF mount…

I was scanning something else about this on another blog. Interesting. Your perspective on it is diametrically contradicted to what I read before. I am still mulling over the opposite points of view, but I’m inclined to a great extent toward yours. And regardless, that’s what is so great about modern democracy and the marketplace of ideas on-line.

The SD940 IS is a wideangle camera and the 780 IS is a entry level compact camera
