The Lenses are back! There are a few new non-L models and a 70-200 f2.8 IS II.

This is a logical and well written response but I am still not 100% convinced.

My reasoning is:

 - It posted in a forum not on an official Canon Web Page

 - This should be a VERY easy to fix but has existed for several days

 - The web pages where not deleted but where moved into the archive area

Canon's email reply to my inquiry about the missing lenses:

We are sorry to hear that you
have noticed lenses missing from the Canon EF lenses support site.
At this moment there is no information available regarding new product
changes in the lens category. Please keep in mind, however, that Canon
continuously reviews its product lineup, and as new products are
introduced, existing models are often taken out of production. We
recommend you check our website (www.canoneos.com) from time to time to
learn of new product announcements in the U.S. market.

Our EOS cameras use EF series lenses. To view our current lens lineup,
please visit the following Web site:

http://www.usa.canon.com/eflenses

We hope this information is helpful to you. Please let us know if we
can be of any further assistance with Canon EF Lenses.

Thank you for choosing Canon.

Chiming in with Nate's post .... Canon is updating the eos website. You should be able to reach the "missing" lenses via http://www.usa.canon.com/consumer/controller?act=SupportIndexAct

Some of you have noticed that a significant number of lenses are missing from the Canon USA website at this moment.

You can rest assured that your favorite lens has not been discontinued - Canon USA has "... identified the issue and will have it fixed as soon as possible".

Weren't Wolf connected to Ritz? Ritz no longer carries Canon, but I believe that's because of the bankruptcy proceedings not because of anything to do with Canon's products or concerns about Canon.

Hm, the 3 70-200 have all NO, or OUTDATES IS's. The Only only one with a more or less up2date IS is the 70-200f/4IS.

Maybe they spend a big (innovative) "IS" Update to most of the lenses.

Maybe is just a webmaster mistake. I don't think the all 70-200 will be discontinued in the same time.

I don't know why everyone goes on about wanting IS, it's good on the side of hand holding at slower shutter speeds, but it also means more glass... heavier and sometimes even a softer lens.

I could be wrong about this but wasn't the 70-200 f/2.8l Sharper then the IS version? (ignoring that the f/4 was arguably sharper then the 2.8l is)

There getting a new hybrid IS update, or being completely updated to IS, with the new hybrid system. What do ya think? Wishful thinking?
