Isn't it better to own a 50D/550D and a f/2.8 17-55 than a 5D Mark 2 and a kit lens?

there you go. that would be a fine camera. I don't need video. a fine FF, better high ISO than 7D and that's it.

i didn't say it was likely, just that i could see it.. it would be a re-wisited 5D with a few more FPS and higher iso/performance.. all the camera you would need with the iso performance due to FF.. but it is highly unlikely.. atleast untill 70D or 80D, then if canon keeps pushing the Mp like he does.. FF will be a MUST in the xxD series.. unless they still go with the 90D and then come up with a new series for the FF xxD sucessor.. most likely if i think about it.. :)

Not likely. Well, I don't know too much about marketing. But I guess, it's not likely to have an FF body between the rebels and the 7D

I don't know why but, I could see the 60D with a full frame sensor, 12-15 Mp like the 5D mk1, cca. 6 FPS, and 25k ISO..

before someone states how much of a dumbass I am.. think about it.. say it's a improved 5D 12Mp sensor.. with nice ISO performance.. a few more AF sensors and 6 FPS.. now how nice would that be? the AF would not be as good as 7D, less MP, lower FPS buut it would be a heck of a lot better than the rebel..

the only downside for canon would be the EF-S.. not selling? but hey.. the EF would go in kits like hell.. and they are quitesome more money than crop lenses..

I would buy one for sure.. if not that.. the 5D mk3 :)

For budget concern (tele lenses are so expensive), I think 1.3x is the best bet. Besides, clean image in high ISO is very important for me, so APS-C is just not as good. We can see how excellent 1D mark IV performs, so APS-H with 16MP should be a very well bet for a budget good camera. 35mm Movie cameras are about APS-H size, if I remember correctly.

Canon has no direct competition with Nikon D3. I'm not worried so much about the low-light capability (7D at ISO 3200 works fine in the crappiest lighting conditions I work in), but full frame with a faster motor would give me what I've been missing on sports assignments. 8 fps with a 12-18MP sensor would differentiate from 5D sufficiently to not poach Canon's own line (especially if the MkIII goes toward 30MP, which would seem likely), and such a camera would fill a niche.

Portrait/wedding people will stay with 5D MkII/III, and Sports/News/Event shooters like me will go with the "7Ds," as Son of Daguerre has put it.

I can't switch to Nikon anyway because of the "backwards focusing", but a camera like "7Ds" would remove all desire, especially if they keep it at or below the 5DMkII price range.

it sounds dry when Canon can just take a great DSLR system and make it a great HDSLR system, which it is already. If they can make a better video camera that takes EF lenses - and keeps the same focal length its interesting, any crop business then DSLR full frame is what it's about.
