Received a new list of specs for an upcoming 1Ds Mark IV.
As with all CR1, big grain of salt.

Full HD video and backlit 29.6MP Digic V
AVHCD
Back lit CMOS sensor effectively doubles the sensitivity of sensor.
6666×4444 pixel sensor becomes the highest resolution 35mm sensor
Back lighting of the sensor improves peripheral performance with ultrawide lenses
Combining hybrid phase difference and contrast detect AF using the main image sensor
High speed phase difference AF and high accuracy contrast detect for high speed AF performance
Hybrid viewfinder. Normal SLR with mirror down or OLED EVF display during liveview mode
5.5FPS in normal mode
7.5MP Liveview mode @30fps
1080/30P and 720/60P
Same physical design

Printers?
I received some information from Germany that the August 19 announcements will infact be for PIXMA printers. I cannot 100% confirm this, but that’s the latest.
Expect camera announcements to follow next week.
Laforet
I didn’t want anyone to think I was giving him a hard time, if I had 1/10 the talent Vincent has, I’d consider my life a booming success photographically.
If Vincent says his announcements have nothing to do with Canon, I believe him. Whatever he’s doing is going to be cool.

“Just to be clear…”
Vincent Laforet has clarified a post he made last week about upcoming announcements.
“…..they will have absolutely, unequivocally, NOTHING to do with Canon or a Canon product.“
I’m sure he tests more than Canon gear, however. I have a hard time believing he’s not playing with some fun new Canon gear.

A nice press event on the 26th of August. We’re hearing about a lot of these around the globe.
I do think announcements will come around the 24th.

A few things about the 60D
- I’m told that the 60D will NOT be a magnesium body. This would definitely separate it from the 7D.
- The body of the 60D is also slightly smaller than the 50D, but will have a larger grip area.
- The camera will cost $200-$300 more than the T2i
An all plastic body puts it inline to compete with the Nikon D90 segment directly. Though I’ve read rumors the D90 replacement WILL have a magnesium body.

What’s coming?
I know the following cameras are coming for sure.
G12
- The G12 will come with a CMOS sensor.
- Yes, HD video.
S95
- Same as the G12 above with a smaller form factor.
SX30
- This will be the replacement of the SX20 & SX1 in a single camera.
- I hear it will come with a Lithium Ion battery (CR1 on this one)
SX130
- Replacement of the SX120
ELPH 10x Zoom
- A super compact 10x zoom camera

Perhaps he’ll get permission from Canon to post his 1Ds Mark IV film to avoid the last 2 debacles. :)

I get married this day, yep.. a Thursday! If something happens in the world of Canon, I will be unable to tell you about it.
CRGal puts up with my insane love of photography and all things Canon, I can give her one day only about her and us.
I will be streaming the wedding to my Canadian folks with a Rebel T2i, CRGal can’t completely shut me down! :)
I’ll be in Ireland, France and Germany in August & September. I won’t be back in Canada until October.
