549 Euro?
The G12 pricing has shown up in a price list for the camera store BK Photo.

In case you missed it, CNET already leaked the spec list for the G12.

So what’s going on?
I have received some cryptic information from a good guy about the 1Ds Mark IV or whatever it’ll be called.
We have already stated the new camera wouldn’t be around for Photokina and would be released in 2011. With each passing day, I’m believing that more and more.
So what’s so radical?
- I’m told to take a look at the 4K camera for clues.
- Don’t disregard the large sensor Canon showed off. Obviously it wouldn’t be that big, but there is something radical about the 1Ds4 sensor.
- The word “Modular” came up.
That’s all I have for now.

From Our Forum
I’ve been entertaining some inlaws, so I have neglected the site this weekend!
I am posting this because it’s being discussed and seems to be spreading around the web like wildfire.
CR’s Take
This all looks too good to be true. I have no doubt Canon is working on an EVIL system, but this camera system is a lot for 2011.
My other issue is with the lenses, they’re pretty much ALL primes. I have doubts a consumer product would launch with that many prime lenses.
The sensor size isn’t very Canon.
The source at Xitek (Where this originated from), is a known bad rumor felon. :)
This is one downside of what I do. Some sites treat poorly sourced rumors as fact and I’m almost forced to publish it. If I don’t post it, I’ll literally get 100 emails telling me about the information.
Please use this blog/forum post as an outlet to discuss what you’d like in a mirrorless system from Canon. Please don’t take this CR1 rumor as fact.

Wowzers
A good source and provider of information has finally chimed in on the 1Ds Mark IV.
Everything the source has been told says there will be no 1Ds Mark IV until late 2011 or early 2012. No matter what Nikon does.
What we will see first is a new 5D series camera in the 28mp range, but not until 2011.
The word “radical” was used to describe the changes we’ll see in the next 1Ds.
I am giving this CR2 for the moment, I’m starting to believe it.

Announcements shortly
We can expect announcements for a few more PowerShot’s in the next 7 days.
There will be a 2nd announcement for an SLR I’m told.
1Ds Mark IV
I’ve been burned with bad information about the camera before, so I’m being very cautious as to what I publish here. I am mentioning this because it’s being sent to me from various places.
The recent flurry of emails points to a 2011 announcement date. Apparently it’s due to the lack of competition in the segement. There’s the D3x and nothing else.
It’s suggested Canon will wait until Nikon shows their cards with a D3xs or D4x.
CR’s Take
I don’t think things work this way. Canon already knows what Nikon has up their sleeves for the most part and the same the other way around. If companies held products back to see what the competition was doing, nothing would ever reach market.
Photokina is a big show, so it’s tough to see just the 60D being introduced for Photokina. Although, the need for trade shows and building product hype is lessening by the year.
Lenses
Nikon will be bringing 2 more lenses to market in the next couple of weeks. I expect Canon to do at least one more.
14-24 & 24-70 are the likely candidates if I go by recent suggestions.
This is speculation on my part.

24-70 f/2.8L IS
Lots of emails with tales of “I was told not to buy the current one”. Nothing of note beyond that.
New Rebel [CR1]
I was told there will be no 2000D. The T1i will remain current. I’m inclined to believe there will be a cheaper Rebel launched.
New 500 & 600
I was told we could expect to see these lenses hit the market as early as summer 2011.
All is pretty quiet.

For nature photographers
A friend of mine Ethan Meleg is leading a workshop on the Bruce Peninsula in Tobermory, Ontario, Canada.
The “Best of the Bruce” is the ultimate landscape photography workshop featuring luxury accommodations, gourmet meals, top-calibre leaders and some of the best scenery in Canada.
I shoot in the area all the time and I can attest to how amazing it is. The accommodation are worth the price of admission alone.
I was going to co-lead this workshop, however my wedding & honeymoon schedule overlapped. My wife won out.
Ethan is a fabulous leader, teacher and photographer. You won’t meet anyone that is more fun than he is when making great photos.
You must know as well, that you are going to see areas of the Bruce Peninsula very few people get to see. This is going to be a top notch landscape/nature workshop.
Lens Rentals Canada
Since I cannot be at the workshop, I will give a $500 Lens Rentals Canada gift certificate to anyone that signs up for the workshop (I believe there’s one space left).

1Ds Mark IV
There’s not much to talk about, I’m getting the usual variables in “tips”. Some say it’s coming before Photokina, others claim it’s 6-12 months away. Nothing definitive yet.
24-70 Update
I’m emailed daily about this lens, as I previously mentioned, I haven’t heard anything about a replacement in a long time.
New Flash
I was told by a decent source we’ll see a new one announced before Photokina.
More cameras coming?
There is at least one announcement day coming. Outside of more Powershots, I have no CR3 info yet.
Firmware
I’m told the 1D Mark IV will be getting a firmware update for Photokina. No word on features. CR1 this one.
60D Manual is Up
You can download the english user manual for the 60D. You’ll notice there is no AF microadjust in the manual.
