Why Do You Need 250 60D’s?

“Creative lab” Party has released a music video for the band androp that required the use of 250 Canon 60Ds wired together. The effect is a wild and creative strobe show.

I wish they had clicked my “buy a 60D here” link.

Inspired by the song’s lyrics, “not to make it a memory,” Party created the video using 250 Canon still cameras; their flashes were controlled via a potent DIY cocktail of arduino, openFrameworks, and Flash. The effect is a “light animation” produced with no CGI at all.

No Finalized 5D Mark III Yet [CR2]

No Finalized 5D Mark III Yet [CR2]

A camera for 2012?
Apparently the 5D Mark III is not yet a finalized product and there are still 2 decisions to be made before the product is ready for consumption.

  1. Split the 5D line into a still camera and an advanced video feature camera.
  2. A camera between the 5D Mark III and 1D

It was also mentioned the still and video teams within Canon is very much separate and there is no overlap between the two departments. There could be some internal shakeup soon in that regard.

Do not expect a new 1D/1Ds camera to advance video functionality all that much.

February 2012 would be the earliest for an announcement that will address the 5D line.

Maybe it was the heatwave?
A few people have pointed out that the 1Ds Mark III is no longer listed on the Canon Canada web site. It has been moved to the archived products section.

Big news? Not really, but we’re starting to get to announcement time.

The camera is still listed on the Canon USA web site.
