EF 300 & 400 f/2.8L IS II in Stock at B&H *UPDATE*

Update
Both lenses are now out of stock at B&H.

Woooo!
B&H has notified me that they now have the new highly anticipated 300 f/2.8L IS II and 400 f/2.8L IS II in stock. They note they are both in limited quantity.

Buy the EF 300 f/2.8L IS II here $7299

Buy the EF 400 f/2.8L IS II here $11499

Are they any good?
Both will probably be slightly better than the 18-55 pre IS.

EF 400 f/2.8L IS II Unboxing
I don’t normally post unboxings for a few reasons. However, things are slow and there are new cases and lens caps to show off. So here is the 400 f/2.8L IS II coming into someones life.

When will Canon Rumors have them?
I have the 300 f/2.8L IS II on order, however I don’t think the 400 is in the near future for me. I’ll have one in the spring.

New Article: Adapting your FD or FL lenses to EF/EOS

New Article: Adapting your FD or FL lenses to EF/EOS

Ever wondered how?
We’re featuring an article here by the owner of EdMika adaptors. They’re a Canadian based duo that engineers and makes adaptors for the Canon FL 55 f/1.2 lens, and an adaptor for various other Canon FD lenses.

Why would you do this?

Lots of people are buying Zeiss and other manual focus lenses at a pretty handsome price, while there is great old Canon glass that is begging to be used again!

The biggest money saver would adapting the big Canon supertelephoto FD lenses, does a very sharp 600 f/4.5 for $1500 sound appealing?

The new EF lenses are astounding, but that comes with a price.

Please read the article Jakub from EdMika wrote about the process and technology behind what appears to be a simple piece of metal.

1Ds Mark IV & 5D Mark II Merry-Go-Round

1Ds Mark IV & 5D Mark II Merry-Go-Round

Which comes first………
The 1ds Mark IV or 5D Mark III?

Some people [NL] are being told the 1Ds Mark IV will arrive before the 5D Mark III based on known sources. I’ve been told the opposite by known sources. It’s still too early to say for sure it seems.

Lenses
As mentioned above, a few “interesting” lenses would be arriving with the 1Ds4/5d3. I’ve heard similar things in the last month or so.

I’ve been told there will be a “massively popular” lens as well as 2 more specialized lenses before the end of 2012.

Lens rumors have always been harder to nail down, as I think manufacturing plays a big roll in deciding when a lens can be announced and released.

For now, sit tight. The next announcement is going to be for a couple more PowerShots, then the good stuff.

  • “Rumors10″ = $10
  • “Loyalty15″ = $15

5D Mark III & The Rest [CR2]

5D Mark III & The Rest [CR2]

The Next DSLR?
I’m told we’ll be seeing the 5D Mark III announced in October, with delivery shortly there after. I was not given any specs, which is probably a good sign.

We said originally, that the 5D Mark III would come before a 1Ds Mark IV or similar camera. Things appear to have come full circle and negate a lot of what I’ve been told this fall in regards to the 5D3.

Next Announcement Date?
We have the middle of September, possibly September 13-September 15 timeframe for a few more PowerShots. Some folks don’t read the site all that well and have posted other dates quoting us.

We should see the S95 & SX30 successors.

G13? We have heard absolutely nothing about a new G camera. It’s genrally on a 1 year product cycle, which would make it due for replacement any day now.

Tuesdays PowerShots

New Compacts
We’re about to see the SX150 HS and 310 HS announced on Tuesday.

As far as we’re told, there will be no DSLR announced on the 23rd. Bummer? Yes.

However, we’re told Canon is more interested in getting production up to 100% before announcing new EOS products.

We may see the 200-400 f/4L IS 1.4x announced as an official product soon. It’d be nice to see pricing.

The PowerShots will get the limelight for now.

thanks
