Finally on its way?
I was told today that a new EF 100-400 f/4-5.6L IS will be making its debut “soonish”. It will be after the EF 200-400 f/4L IS 1.4x is officially announced.
It could be tested at Euro 2012 before being announced.

CR’s Take
A few folks want an EF 400 f/5.6L IS, I’d think this sort of product would fill the void. I’d expect it to be optically awesome.
This comes from a pretty solid source, though lenses are always hard to nail down.

Changing?
We reported a short while ago a suggestion that the next G Series camera would be a departure from what we have now. It won’t just be an S100 with a different body and lens.
There’s speculation about comments Chuck Westfall made recently about the G series camera needing to have better image quality, since it’s priced in the area of entry level DSLRs. It’s suggested by a few people that the G Series may see a larger image sensor and a faster lens.

From Gura Gear
Yes, we love prime lenses, but eleven is simply one of the coolest prime numbers. We can’t help but to love the symmetry of what should be an assymetric number. To celebrate, we’re knocking 11% off everything we sell on this once in a lifetime celebration of 11/11/11. Celebrate yourself by shooting an image at f11 when the clock strikes 11:11 on 11/11/11.

Learn about the new AF system now
Canon has posted an official article about the AF system on the new Canon EOS-1D X.
The EOS-1D X has arguably the world’s most sophisticated AF system, with an entirely new 61-point array, and a host of configuration options that tailor it for nearly any professional photographer’s needs. There are many new aspects of this terrific new AF system, so we’ll discuss them in separate articles here on Canon’s Digital Learning Center starting with the camera’s AF points and area selection options.
Cinema EOS FAQ
Canon has also posted a rather extensive Cinema EOS FAQ.

S100 Reviewed
A regular of the CR Forums has posted a mini review of the PowerShot S100. He’s taken the time to post some comparisons against the PowerShot S95.
A Snippet from the review:
Overall, I’m really pleased with the S100. It will be good for all of the things my S95 is good for…and do them a little better across the board. The frame rate is faster, it seems to focus more rapidly (still slow compared to a dSLR), but in particular the dramatic improvement in ISO noise means not only better low light performance, but also higher possible shutter speeds in brighter conditions.

Following in the footsteps of SanDisk, Lexar has dropped the price of their memory products as well. Here’s hoping the price drops are permanent.
