We previously posted about PopPhoto’s declaration of a “great new dslr”.
It’s the T2i.
A note to PopPhoto, the T2i isn’t considered “new” in the photography world.
Thanks Nikon Rumors

From Vincent Laforet
NAB 2010 kicks off tomorrow – and you should expect some pretty fantastic announcements from a wide variety of companies. I know of quite a few – but am sworn to secrecy for at least another 12 hours or so.
For those of you who could not make it out to the city of sin for this conference – know that a lot of the buzz here surrounds the HD DSLR and “convergence” worlds. Very exciting times. I can’t wait to share a lot of what I know with you very shortly. Zeiss, RedRock Micro, Lite Panels, Marshall Electronics, Canon and many many more have some very exciting announcement to make tomorrow!

From Canon, it could be the remotes we were told about.
Adobe has announced Creative Suite 5
Check out all the info about the new suite from adobe.
DPReview has completed their review of the T2i.
Despite our (very minor) complaints, the EOS 550D is a very satisfying camera, and certainly offers the most compelling feature set of any nominally ‘entry level’ DSLR that we’ve used. It isn’t just about spec though – the 550D’s refined handling and excellent supplied software suite should not be overlooked. Although it doesn’t represent a huge improvement over the 500D, the changes that have been made are worthwhile, and well-implemented. An external mic socket, manual control and wide choice of resolutions and frame rates means that the 550D is worthy of consideration for serious video use, and when paired with a high quality lens, image quality is superb.
With all this taken into account, it is hard not to recommend the EOS 550D. Quite simply, taken as a whole, it is the best camera of its class that we’ve ever seen, and one of those rare cameras that won’t look out of date in a couple of years’ time.

The folks at Kerrisdale Cameras in Victoria, British Columbia have T2i w/18-55 IS kits in stock.
They’re selling them for $999.92
I can’t yet find them on their site, but I assume they just arrived today.
B&H is now out of stock.
Body only is not yet in stock at B&H.
This camera is going to be extremely popular and it’s available already. B&H has the T2i in stock and ready to ship.
Buy a T2i w/18-55 Here $899
I will have a review started by the weekend as these things trickle into Canada. I have a video guy that’s going to help out with that aspect of the camera. Give us a couple of weeks to get the review done.
In Canada, this camera comes with the 18-135 IS as well. I have yet to see that kit available in the US. That’s the lens we’ll be reviewing the camera with, as I have never actually touched one.
Rebel T2i in Canada
Apparently Canon Canada has told dealers to expect initial shipments next week. Canon Canada also claims to have a lot of them available. There are high expectations for the camera sales wise.
Adorama currently has some 1D Mark IV’s in stock.

Some technical goodies
DXO Mark has posted some text results of the sensor in a pre production Rebel T2i/550D.
Take it for what it’s worth.
It shouldn’t be much of a surprise that things are about on par with the 7D, outside of ISO performance.
