Sensors & Lenses!

February 17th, 2010 | 130 Comments | Posted in Canon 1D Mark 4, Canon Lenses, Nikon

From DXOMark
DXOMark has released their findings for the Nikon D3s and Canon 1D Mark IV.

Canon 1D Mark IV vs Nikon D3s

It’s about a wash between the 2 cameras outside of what we already knew. The high ISO performance is superior out of the camera on the D3s and it’s lower megapixel/larger sensor.

Again, take it for what its worth.

Canon EF 70-200 f/2.8L IS II
The lens will retail for $2499 USD. I’m still searching for places in North America to preorder this thing. I have yet to see pricing in Canada.

24mm f/1.4
Nikon has finally started to address their prime shortfall with the introduction of the 24mm f/1.4.

16-35 f/4 VR
This is a very interesting lens to me. Wouldn’t it be great to see a Canon 17-40 f/4L IS? I think so. I’d order one right now.

Yes this is a Canon site.
Don’t hate me for posting Nikon news, these are interesting lenses.

Nikkor AF-S 300mm f/2.8G ED VR II Launched

December 10th, 2009 | 31 Comments | Posted in Nikon

Launched Quietly
Nikon has launched a new 300 f/2.8. They also launched a new 2x TC alongside it.

These companies seem to be launching stuff when it’s ready, instead of on a set schedule. That’s good for us!

Nikon D3s Specs?

October 12th, 2009 | 33 Comments | Posted in Nikon

Gah! A Nikon Post!
Yes, it matters what they’re up to. I only post Nikon stuff close to an announcement.

October 14/15, 2009
Nikon will be announcing the successor to the highly successful D3 this week. I’ve received some CR3 info as has Nikon Rumors who has received a lot more :)

The D3s Specs (NR)

  • Better ISO-performance (ISO 200-12800 probably)
  • New 1.2 crop mode
  • Bigger buffer
  • Motion-Jpeg 720p (no 1080p!)
  • Improved AF-ON button
  • Improved multi-dial
  • No 14 fps, I repeat no 14 fps

The CR3 Specs I received (NR has all the juice):

  • Nikon D3s
  • Oct 14/15th
  • 12 mp
  • ISO 102,400

At the moment no new lenses will be launched with the D3s according to Nikon Rumors.

Nikon is really upping the spec game if these rumors are true (outside of the 1080p omission).

Joy!
Are you waiting for the launch of the D3000 and D300s? I am! New 70-200 possibly too.

Maybe Nikon will update the worst line of P&S cameras on earth. Canon needs to be pushed a bit more in the segment.

Follow it at my pals site: http://nikonrumors.com

A new 70-200 and 18-200 as well.

Nothing to change systems over. :)

Nikon D5000?

April 13th, 2009 | 100 Comments | Posted in Nikon

If the specs are tr.ue
If the specs for the D5000 are true, Canon appears to be getting their proverbial butt kicked from a perception standpoint.

  • Bali-angle LCD, 2.7 inch?
  • D movie image editing and enhanced scene mode
  • Silent Mode AF
  • 11-point target tracking AF
  • ISO3200high sensitivity support

I’m not a spec person, but for an entry level camera.. specs can lead to sales. Consumers love specs!
