1Ds Mark IV @ Photokina

Receiving a few tidbits of information about an upcoming 1Ds body.

Everything points to it launching before Photokina. We’ve even seen claims it could launch as early as this week.

I also received one emailing claiming it would be launched with 1 lens. No word on what lens that would be.

The 1D Mark IV didn’t launch with a lens, however the 70-200 f/2.8L IS II did launch a couple of months earlier on its own.

A new 24-70 is obviously a lens that would make sense to launch with a new 1Ds.

This means great new gear for pro's and enthusiasts and (maybe): 5D III by spring 2011 and 7DII by fall 2011 plus some lenses...Haven't got present the exact product cycles. Let's enjoy the ride, then. Regards, Peter.

I can`t believe they will announce it now and have no great new stuff for photokina!

I was being asked to keep some time available in my agenda for the 14th or 16th of september.
That said it could well be for a new copier or printer

I also expect/hope a new 24-70 with especially beter iq in the wide-angle-area.
But I guess it will be at least 500 euri's more expensive.

This would be the best surprise and would make this the best photokina yet! Canon already impressed by updating the superteles and extenders, not to mention the neat fisheye zoom.

I really hope the 24-70 successor (update) is announced. My 5D2 likes the 70-200 2.8 IS II so much. It needs a friend. Few lenses in my kit can reach even close. 100 2.8 IS is close. 35 1.4 falls short, but still gives a beautiful look. 24-105 not close. 400 5.6 not close.

I can't help but feel we are getting our hopes up ... canon's already dumped a lot of new gear on the table all at once, is it realistic that they would drop even more L-glass this year?  just asking because it sounds way too good to be true.

Sooner the better! I've been through three of the old 24-70mm lenses. They are good, but not as sharp as I'd like, and they do come apart after a few years of constant use. The 135 f2 I have is the benchmark I judge all other against, that lens is so insanely crisp, anyone else noticed that?

Probably. But that's what this site is about. Anyway, a 1Ds4 announcement is coming. It seems reasonable to announce a lens with it.
