Title: Deal: EOS M w/22mm f/2 STM & 90EX $399
Post by: Canon Rumors on July 19, 2013, 01:35:04 PM

From B&H Photo

B&H Photo has stock on the EOS M w/22mm f/2 STM & Speedlite 90EX kit for $399. That’s a $280 savings and runs until July 31, 2013.

These cameras are still officially current, but we’re probably getting near the end of the line. I expect a new EOS M camera or two in the fall.

Does anyone have any experience with the IQ of this camera compared to the Canon G15?

I wish they had this deal on 7/3!. I bought the body/w 22mm for 299.00 and a sunpak flash for about 36.00.  I wudda sprung for the Speedlight at this price.

Can't address IQ vs the G series, I can say it's about comparable to the APS-C slrs

You are getting a much better lens and a much bigger sensor, you win all around.

Looks like they have an 18-55 kit for $419 too:  http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/994793-REG/canon_caem1855w90_eos_m_mirrorless_digital.html (http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/994793-REG/canon_caem1855w90_eos_m_mirrorless_digital.html)

The 90EX has very little appeal, to me.  Yes, it's tiny, and that's good. But it can't be bounced, meaning its only use is fill flash, and it's on the weak side even for that.  Optical master?  Great feature, and a cheap way to get it!  But my flashes are 600's and I have an ST-E3.  So personally, I think the 270EX II with more power and bounce capability is a much better choice for the EOS M.

these deals are just getting ridiculous.  i'm thinking about picking up a 2nd kit just for the hell of it, to get the zoom kit lens and a cheap optical master.

could always sell the second body or keep it around when i want to go matchy-matchy with canon's big whites :P

Tempting. But I think I'll wait for the dual pixel CMOS AF sensor to hit the M line, then have an IR conversion done on the current one.

With price tag @ $299, why would I want G15 ::)

Although, I haven't shoot G15, but I doubt 1/1.7" sensor would out perform 22.3 x 14.9 mm.

Digitalrev didn't lie at all. Kai said it would probably be on sale soon.. and he did not disappoint..
I'll be waiting for Dual Pixel on the next EOS M

I use my ST-E3 and my 600s with M and it works well.  It's the same routine as attaching my 5D3 to the 200/2 —you attach the camera to the flash.

I had one of the backordered B&H orders in and it arrived today ($299 deal).  I was pleasantly shocked when I pulled the little flash out of the box - they sent me the kit with the flash!  That was a very nice little upgrade on what was already a fabulous deal

I finally received mine today from the original $299 deal ... and yes, they sent me the kit with the speedlite 90EX .... Bonus !

Nice feeling, isn't it?  Although I do agree with some of the above posters - I don't see the flash getting used very much.

I got mine yesterday, ordered the M and 22 but got the 90EX with it. Can't say enough good things about B&H who seem to be honouring all their over orders, I know Adorama were cancelling theirs.

Gotta say the AF is MUCH better than I expected, leagues ahead of the G series. The IQ is, well it is APS, we all know the IQ! The 90EX is better than the ST-E2, for half the price.

For $299 I am very very happy, having played with the camera a bit now I'd have been happy at $600 for the kit.

Very Nice!
I'm playing with the flash, and it's not that bad so far, plus you get ettl control of speedlites. I have RT-full-ettl control, but this little guy is a good back up. And you won't even notice it in your pocket

I would never have bought the 90EX flash, but I can see me using it. Already used it on the 1Ds MkIII as a controller, love it so far.

I would never have bought the 90EX flash,

unlike others, I received mine without the flash.  After a quick email to B&H (and some help from some users on this forum), I got the free flash.  Not really happy with it (no bounce, inconsistent output, no controls,push-button power switch) but I can't complain.  It was free.  It's much more well balanced than having my 430 ex ii on top of the M.

I'm with neuro/private though.  I would never have purchased this flash.

I like the little guy. Not very powerful but very portable and does a relatively decent job for what it can do. It's more powerful than the built-in flash in many high-end mirrorless cameras. And it can trigger my 600-RT.

I'm really loving that 90EX, so much so that I carry it for my 5D III instead of my all-out radio transceivers.  Much lighter, smaller, and just more convenient than the whole get-up.  90EX also elevates the humble EOS-M to strobist greatness with use of off-camera speedlites on the go.
