Title: Powershot D20 replacement / update?
Post by: TrabimanUK on October 07, 2013, 06:13:55 AM
Just wondering if anyone as heard anything regarding a update for the Powershot D20?  I appreciate that it's a bit specialist, but I'm interested to find out if anyone truly believes that Canon wil be releasing an update to this underwater camera next year, as I have a bit of a diving holiday planned for mid next year and don't really want to fork out the >£1K for a DSLR case or risk my 7D getting ful of fish.  At the moment, it seems that the Panasonic FT5 and Olympus TG-2 are surging ahead in terms of underwater colour rendering and (Panasonic) in MP and scoring well in reviews, but I would rather keep with Canon.

cheers,

Grant :-)

The D20 is a quick shooter, but it's hard to make adjustments while using it one-handed. You can leave it in auto mode, or dive into the menus to tweak controls, but it would be better to have a happy medium.

I got a review as well for it but lets c i dont go dare devil though

I looked at one of these, but in the end I didn't bother as it doesn't shoot raw. Add that feature and I'm definitely in.

I've also been looking for a serious all weather/waterproof camera for kayaking/fishing/....  Yes I know I can get a housing, but its not quite the same.  The Nikon 1 AW1 (http://imaging.nikon.com/lineup/acil/bodies/aw1/ (http://imaging.nikon.com/lineup/acil/bodies/aw1/)) seems to be the most serious contender so far.  Think I'll wait a while longer and see how it holds up before pulling that trigger.  An EOS M AW would be interesting, but I won't hold my breath ;-)

Hi guys,
thanks for your responses.  I've got a bit of time to go, so I'll wait until closer to the date before purchasing.  Interesting abot the Nikon - I'll keep an eye out.

thanks,
Grant  :)
