Title: Post your vacation wildlife shots!
Post by: @!ex on July 10, 2012, 01:24:02 AM
Here are a couple of shots I snapped of the majestic bison while I was up in South Dakota a couple weeks ago.  I just got really lucky as we happened to be driving through Wind Cave National park two days in a row right when amazing sunsets were happening and buffalo were right next to and on the road (there are no fences).  Really magical.  I feel like I've been getting a lot more keepers with my shiny (not as clean anymore) new 5D mkiii.  Let's see what you've snapped.

Nice shots! I made a dash through Wind Cave NP last year after Sturgis, did not have much time for photography. Well the rally is again around the corner so who knows.

Haven't been on a real vacation with my 5D3 yet but i guess a trip to the zoo counts??

Not as exotic as some, but here's a couple of mine from my trip the week before last.

Love that red squirrel pose. Great capture! Creamy green bokeh compliments the squirrel's color nicely. Really sharp focus. From my perspective that is a very exotic subject since there are no squirrels here in Hawaii. :)

From your many beautiful posted landscapes of Scotland, I hope to visit the highlands one day.

That's certainly perspective lol. That's the thing with photography and wildlife watching, one person's mundane is another person's exotic, sometimes you can overlook the beauty all around you. Thanks for the compliments.

The first shot of the blue-footed booby is awesome!  I particularly like the colors in the water and his feet.

I actually just got back from the Caribbean and got some (what I consider to be) nice shots of local wildlife.  I'll have to post them when I'm finished processing.

Managed to finally get out and shoot a few deer shots in the Autumn rut. No colour enhancements, all natural. Actually ive toned the colours down as no one believes the autumn colours were that intense. Shame.

I've never had much luk with deer (maybe I'm just being overcritical), nice rut shots. Personally, I would push the saturation back up to what you think it was like. It doesn't really matter what others think ultimately, as long as you're happy with the results.

After remaining almost completely still for about 10 minutes out of nowhere comes this small pack of Coyotes.  This one fairly large in size was staring me down for a good seconds before deciding to go the opposite way.  A good choice :)
